2025 Fantasy Outlook
Coyle established career highs in 2023-24, collecting 25 goals and 60 points in 82 games with Boston. However, he fell to 17 tallies and 35 points across 83 regular-season appearances between the Bruins and Avalanche last campaign. He had a rocky start with Colorado after being obtained from Boston ahead of the trade deadline, but he earned two goals and nine assists during a six-game point streak to end the regular season. However, he had only one goal in seven playoff outings. Coyle was flipped to the Blue Jackets in June, giving him another fresh start on a team that should spread the offense around more, though he's projected for a middle-six role at best. He is also eligible for unrestricted free agency next summer, which will provide him additional motivation to improve. Read Past Outlooks
Logs two helpers in overtime loss
Coyle notched two assists, two shots on goal, two hits and two PIM in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Mammoth.
ANALYSIS
Coyle wasn't initially expected to play Saturday due to an undisclosed injury, but he made enough progress to suit up. He extended his point streak to five games (one goal, six assists), though his ice time was down at 14:58, which was the first time he's been under 15 minutes since Jan. 3. The 34-year-old is up to 49 points, 113 shots on net, 83 hits, 40 blocked shots and a plus-7 rating in 62 contests. If the injury doesn't sideline him, Coyle has a good chance at getting back to the 60-point mark this season.

Following Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci's retirement in the summer of 2023, Coyle found himself elevated to a top-two center spot with the Bruins while also getting a bigger role with the man advantage. Coyle took advantage of those opportunities, setting career highs in 2023-24 with 25 goals and 60 points, including 11 power-play points after finishing the previous campaign without a single point with the man advantage. However, Boston signed free agent Elias Lindholm over the offseason, and Matthew Poitras is primed to play a bigger role as a sophomore, so there's increased competition up the middle. Perhaps one of those centers will shift to the wing, but it wouldn't be surprising to see Coyle get fewer choice assignments in 2024-25 compared to a year prior. For that reason, it would be best to consider another 60-point campaign to be a best-case scenario for Coyle with 50 points being seen as a more likely outcome.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Off to CBJ?
Coyle has reportedly been traded from the Avalanche to the Blue Jackets, according to Pierre LeBrun of TSN on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Coyle's stay in the Mile High City was short-lived, and he is on his way to Columbus via trade. The 33-year-old recorded a solid 13 points in 19 regular-season games with the Avalanche, but struggled in the postseason with just one point and a minus-4 rating in seven games. He has one year left on his contract with a $5.25 million AAV -- that high number was likely a motivating factor for the trade, as Colorado is close to the cap ceiling. He'll likely slot into a similar middle-six role with the Blue Jackets that he played in with the Avalanche.
