2025 Fantasy Outlook
Mateychuk turned pro in 2024-25, supplying nine goals and 25 points across 27 regular-season outings with AHL Cleveland as well as four goals, 13 points, 20 PIM, 44 shots, 26 hits and 63 blocks in 45 appearances with the Blue Jackets. Taken with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, the 21-year-old has tremendous offensive upside, so he's worth keeping a close eye on during training camp. If he secures a regular role on Columbus' power play for the 2025-26 campaign, then a 30-plus point showing is obtainable. However, Zach Werenski is a lock to be the blueliner on the top power-play unit, and defenseman Ivan Provorov will likely find himself as part of the second group, so Mateychuk will have to fight to earn and maintain a role on special teams. Earns first power-play point
Mateychuk scored a power-play goal and blocked two shots in Monday's 5-3 win over the Devils.
ANALYSIS
Mateychuk has two goals and an assist over his last five games. This goal was his first career power-play point, though he hasn't seen consistent usage with the man advantage this season since Zach Werenski sees a lot of time in that role. Mateychuk is up to six goals, 10 points, 26 shots on net, 42 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating over 25 appearances. He's worth consideration in deeper fantasy formats based on what he's already done, and his offense could grow into something with more widespread appeal.
