Drew O'Connor

Drew O'Connor

27-Year-Old CenterC
Vancouver Canucks
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Between Pittsburgh and Vancouver last season, O'Connor got into 84 games, but the extra action didn't help offset a drop in production. He finished with 25 points, 83 hits, 57 blocked shots and a minus-16 rating while seeing bottom-six minutes with both teams. O'Connor is a useful defensive forward, but his scoring contributions are likely to peak around the 30-point mark in a good year. He also won't see much in the way of power-play time while typically serving on the third line. The Canucks liked enough of what they saw from him to give him a two-year contract extension after acquiring him from the Penguins. O'Connor probably won't need to be drafted in most formats, but keep an eye on his usage early in the year, as he could be a streaming option if he gets a better assignment than expected. Buries shorthanded tally
CVancouver Canucks
November 9, 2025
O'Connor scored a shorthanded goal on two shots in Sunday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Avalanche.
ANALYSIS
O'Connor has four goals and three assists over his last six outings. The 27-year-old has scored all four of his goals in November after a lackluster start to the season. He's up to eight points, 22 shots on net, 13 hits, 11 blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating while featuring in a middle-six role. O'Connor's worth a look in deeper fantasy formats, but he's not going to offer standout production in any one area.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Following the Penguins' decision to trade Jake Guentzel at the deadline last season, O'Connor suddenly found himself slotting into a first-line role playing alongside Sidney Crosby. The 26-year-old O'Connor certainly didn't disappoint, posting career-best numbers with 16 goals, 17 assists and 160 shots on net in 79 regular-season outings. At this point, the team hasn't made any free-agent signings or trades that would supplant the power forward from filling that assignment again in 2024-25. Playing with Crosby should see O'Connor challenge for career highs across the board this year, especially if he gets an opportunity with the No. 2 power-play unit.
O'Connor played 46 games at the NHL level last season after totaling 32 appearances at the top level over the previous two years combined. He scored five goals and 11 points while averaging 9:49 of ice time with the big club in 2022-23. The 25-year-old was rewarded with a two-year extension this offseason, seemingly locking him into a bottom-six role for the 2023-24 campaign. O'Connor has nothing left to prove at the AHL level; he's totaled 73 points in 73 career games with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, including 22 in 20 appearances last year. Assuming O'Connor gets a full season with Pittsburgh, he could hit the double-digit goal mark and post his first career 20-point season.
