2025 Fantasy Outlook
Chytil was part of the return to the Canucks that sent J.T. Miller to the Rangers in January. A concussion ended Chytil's season early, costing him the last 16 games of the year as his second injury absence of the season. Overall, he had 26 points in 56 appearances last season, which isn't all that encouraging. He's topped the 40-point mark just once in eight NHL seasons, and while he got some extra ice time with the Canucks, his production didn't take a corresponding step up. Chytil's lack of offense, as well as a concussion history, general injury risk and a skill-based game with little physicality, make him a tough player to roster in fantasy. It will still be worth watching how the Canucks construct their roster for 2025-26, but if Chytil ends up on the third line, he'll have minimal appeal in his age-26 campaign. Read Past Outlooks
Heads to injured reserve
Chytil (face) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Chytil's move to IR frees up a roster spot with a trio of Canucks forwards coming back from injuries after the Olympic break. He is out indefinitely due to a facial fracture, and given his lengthy history of head and upper-body injuries, he could get shut down for the year at some point.

Chytil suited up in only 10 contests during the 2023-24 campaign due to a suspected concussion and complications in his recovery. He chipped in six assists and 22 shots on goal while averaging nearly 16 minutes of ice time. Chytil was also held off the scoresheet in six outings during the playoffs. He possesses plenty of upside if he can put his injury woes behind him in 2024-25, but occupying a third-line role and seeing time on the second power-play unit won't do much for his fantasy value. Still, Chytil should surpass the 40-point plateau and earn around 170-plus shots.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Making defensive strides
Chytil's puck protection skills have stood out as improved in training camp, Thomas Drance of The Athletic reports Friday.
ANALYSIS
Chytil looks to have focused on his possession and defensive skills during the offseason, and the early returns are promising. The Canucks are counting on Chytil to fill a second-line role after failing to address their center depth in the offseason. The 26-year-old carries quite a bit of injury risk after multiple concussions in his career, but he can be an effective middle-six player when healthy.
