2025 Fantasy Outlook
In a season derailed by injuries, Barzal delivered six goals, 14 assists and a plus-10 rating over 30 appearances. It was a forgettable year for the Islanders, who simply can’t afford to be without one of their top players. A gifted playmaker with incredible edgework, the right-shot forward has point-per-game upside -- as evidenced by his 80-point output in 80 regular-season appearances in 2023-24 -- but he's now missed significant time in two of the last three campaigns. Nevertheless, Barzal is slated to be good to go for 2025-26 and will likely serve on the top line as well as the No. 1 power-play unit. If he’s reunited with Bo Horvat, Barzal's elite vision gives him ample upside, but his injury history is a concern, whether you think he’s injury-prone or just unlucky. Keep these factors in mind on draft day and target Barzal in the middle rounds. Read Past Outlooks
Trio of points Thursday
Barzal scored a goal, dished out two assists, placed four shots on goal, served two PIM and had two hits in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Avalanche.
ANALYSIS
Barzal had a fantastic performance in both offensive areas. He registered two assists and scored a power-play goal where he deked and dangled through Colorado's defense before lifting a backhanded shot past Mackenzie Blackwood. With the trio of tallies, the 28-year-old center is up to eight goals, 13 points and 69 shots on net through 27 games this season. He not only continues to produce plays worthy of highlight reels, but he has also been a consistent name found on the Islanders' scoresheet. With 21 points, he trails fellow center Bo Horvat for the team lead in points. Barzal has already passed the 20-point campaign he had through 30 games a year ago, and he's on track for the fifth 60-plus point season of his career if he can stay healthy.

Barzal scored 22 goals and contributed 63 assists in 82 games during his rookie season but struggled with offensive consistency for the next five years. He finally returned to that production level in 2023-24, potting a career-high 23 goals and registering 80 points in 80 contests. He set new personal bests with 240 shots on net and an average of 20:08 of ice time per game. With Bo Horvat as a linemate, Barzal's faceoffs were drastically reduced, but his assist total climbed. He had a hand in 20 goals scored by Horvat in 2023-24. They should be a productive duo for the Islanders again this campaign, with Barzal leading the charge for the team's offense.
