2025 Fantasy Outlook
McBain is not a major factor on offense, having failed to reach the 30-point mark in each of his three full NHL campaigns. However, he is one of the top physical forwards in the league, as he recorded 291 hits and 78 PIM in addition to a career-best 27 points in 2024-25. The 25-year-old's playing style makes him a good fit for the Mammoth's bottom six, but that doesn't bode particularly well for his offense taking a step forward at this point in his career. Utah's hearty prospect pool also poses a threat to McBain's ice time in the near future, though it may not come to a head in 2025-26. McBain hadn't logged a multi-point effort since Dec. 3 versus the Ducks. The 26-year-old set up both of Dylan Guenther's goals in the second period before scoring one of his own in the third. McBain is now at six goals, 68 shots on net, 159 hits, 33 blocked shots, 45 PIM and an even plus-minus rating over 47 contests. If McBain and Guenther stick together alongside Michael Carcone, that trio could emerge as an energy line with scoring potential for the Mammoth.

McBain recorded eight goals and 26 points in 67 contests with Arizona in 2023-24, making it his second consecutive 26-point campaign. While the 24-year-old isn't likely to develop into a significant scoring threat, he is noteworthy in physical categories, collecting 50 PIM and 204 hits last season. If he stays healthy this season, it would not be surprising to see him exceed the 250-hit mark while also recording 50-75 PIM. However, with Utah incorporating more prospects into its plans, there's no guarantee McBain will be an everyday player.
