2025 Fantasy Outlook
McCabe accounted for two goals, 23 points, 74 shots, 135 blocks and 118 hits across 66 appearances during the 2024-25 regular season. His rugged style led to some injury absences, but he established himself as a solid shutdown defender alongside Chris Tanev. McCabe likely won’t factor much into the offensive attack of the Maple Leafs in 2025-26, as he hasn’t reached the 30-point plateau yet in his NHL career. However, he will be a good source of hits and blocks and should be a fixture in Toronto's top four when healthy. Read Past Outlooks

Goal, assist in win
McCabe scored a goal, dished an assist, logged three hits, blocked three shots and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Predators.
ANALYSIS
McCabe opened the scoring at 8:42 of the first period and then helped out on a William Nylander empty-netter late in the third. These were McCabe's first two points of the season, but he's been as reliable as ever in his own zone. He's posted a plus-6 rating, eight blocks and six hits to provide decent non-scoring production. McCabe looks to be a lock for top-four minutes as a shutdown blueliner. He's topped 20 points in each of the last four seasons, which gives him appeal in deeper fantasy formats.

McCabe was surprisingly useful in his first full year with the Maple Leafs, putting up career highs in goals (eight), assists (20), points (28), plus-minus (plus-20), hits (219) and PIM (56). He received top-four minutes -- partly out of necessity and partly from earning such a role, and he also earned two power-play points, his first with the man advantage since 2017-18. McCabe also shot 11.0 percent last year, which means his goal-scoring is likely to go down in 2024-25. The defenseman will play most of the year at age 31, so he shouldn't lose too much offense. He's an excellent physical defenseman who can help in formats that reward such work, but his offense will likely remain in the 25-30-point range.
