2025 Fantasy Outlook
Some players crumble under the pressure of living up to a new contract, but Oettinger didn't do that in 2024-25. He signed an eight-year extension just after the start of the season, and that deal kicks in for 2025-26. He didn't rest on his laurels, putting up a 36-18-4 record with a 2.59 GAA and a .909 save percentage in 58 regular-season games. It's not the best Oettinger has done, but he remains among the top goalies in the league. He's reached the 30-win mark four years in a row and has never posted a save percentage lower than .905 in a full season. With a strong and deep Stars team in front of him, Oettinger is reliable in virtually all fantasy formats. Read Past Outlooks
Wins sixth straight game
Oettinger stopped 14 of 18 shots in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Blues.
ANALYSIS
Oettinger picked up his sixth straight win, but it was another shaky performance. He has managed to win with less than his best during this streak while posting save percentages under .900 in five of those victories. Oettinger is up to 23-10-4 with a 2.73 GAA and an .897 save percentage through 37 starts. It's unclear if he will be the No. 1 netminder for Team USA at the Olympics, but he's been getting results, which could be enough to take on a starring role on the international stage.

2020
Oettinger had an off year in 2023-24. Despite sitting sixth on the NHL win list (35), the 25-year-old netminder barely cracked the top-20 in GAA (2.72) and tied for 25th in save percentage (.905) among backstops with 25 or more starts. And his GSAx (goals saved above expectation) dropped from eight-best in the NHL in 2022-23 to 50th last year. Still, Oettinger is one of the best young goalies in the world - he has two All-Star appearances in his three full seasons, and he's already been in the top-five voting for the Vezina twice. Casey DeSmith is a sturdy, but unspectacular backup, so expect Oettinger to log 55-60 starts and get back into elite territory. He's in the top tier in the NHL and will only get better. Last year was a blip.
