He surpassed Cayden Primeau for the backup role early in 2024-25. Dobes also posted a .881 save percentage over three playoff games. Dobes isn't going to push Sam Montembeault out of the starting role any time soon, and Primeau will likely be working hard in training camp to regain the backup job.
