Taken with the No. 87 overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, Sourdif has managed a goal across four career regular-season NHL games, but the 23-year-old has spent most of his time developing in the minors. He had 16 goals, 34 points and 58 PIM in 43 regular-season outings with AHL Charlotte in 2024-25 before adding four goals and 10 points in 18 playoff outings. Sourdif’s work ethic and two-way game might be enough to earn him a bottom-six spot on Washington’s Opening Night roster, but he’s far from a lock for that role. Sourdif has two multi-point performances in the last seven games, but those represent his only points since Dec. 7 as he struggles to make a consistent impact despite a top-six role for the Capitals.
