2025 Fantasy Outlook
After a successful junior season at the University of Minnesota in which he had 39 points in 39 games, Wood made the jump to the NHL right away with Nashville. The 20-year-old had one assist in six games, and he’ll look to build on that by making the Predators right away out of training camp for 2025-26. It’s no lock though, and the young winger could spend some time in the AHL to start the season, but it’d be surprising if he doesn’t crack the roster and get significant time in the NHL at some point. The production at the NCAA level was there, but with such a small sample so far, it remains to be seen how the 2023 first-round selection’s game will translate to the NHL level. Wood’s situation is worth monitoring during training camp, and he could be worth stashing in deeper fantasy formats. Read Past Outlooks

On injured reserve
Wood (lower body) was put on injured reserve Saturday, per Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site.
ANALYSIS
Wood is considered week-to-week, and he might be on the shelf for a while. When he is healthy, Wood could be a candidate to go to AHL Milwaukee. He had 17 goals and 39 points in 39 appearances with the University of Minnesota last campaign before earning an assist in six regular-season outings with Nashville in 2024-25.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Praised for patience
Head coach Andrew Brunette praised Wood's patience and poise in Friday's practice, Max Herz of 102.5 The Game Nashville reports.
ANALYSIS
Wood's stickhandling and deceptiveness with the puck appear to be coming along nicely as well. Brunette's comments come at a good time, as there could be an opening in the Predators' top six due to the prolonged contract dispute between the team and Luke Evangelista. Wood is a skilled player who was selected 15th overall in 2023, but he had just one assist over six NHL games last season after signing out of the University of Minnesota. The 20-year-old winger will need to continue to prove himself but seems to have a good chance to make the NHL roster at this point of training camp.
