Matvei Gridin

Gridin spent all of last year with QMJHL Shawinigan after being selected by the Flames with the No. 28 pick in the 2024 NHL Draft. He put together a solid year at the junior level, logging 36 goals, 43 assists and 27 PIM over 56 regular-season appearances. He had a strong preseason performance ahead of the 2025-26 campaign that included three goals, and he earned a spot on the Flames' Opening Night roster as a second-line contributor. The 19-year-old will have a chance to see action for the NHL club while Jonathan Huberdeau and Martin Pospisil are sidelined to begin the regular season, but Gridin could lose playing time or head to the minors once the two veterans are cleared to return. Despite his encouraging preseason, Gridin's fantasy upside is limited in redraft leagues since he could lose playing time once the Flames are back to full health. Read Past Outlooks
