Lafferty spent parts of two seasons with the Blackhawks from 2021-23, and after stints with three other teams, he is back with Chicago for the 2025-26 season. The 30-year-old is coming off a tough season with the Sabres, notching just four goals and three assists with a minus-15 rating in 60 games. He didn’t get much ice time when he played, averaging 9:53 per contest. The role he’ll play with Chicago figures to be similar, assuming he cracks the lineup on an everyday basis. The six-year veteran is no longer an offensive threat, so whether or not he has any fantasy value will be strictly determined by whether his physicality ticks up from 2024-25 -- he had just 89 hits last year, compared to 192 in 2023-24. It's a show of skill for the 30-year-old, who has spent a lot of time in the press box so far -- this was just his fifth appearance of the campaign. The goal was also his first shot on net of the year to go with four PIM, seven hits and a plus-1 rating. He may still find himself out of the lineup once Andre Burakovsky (illness), Frank Nazar (abdomen) and Jason Dickinson (shoulder) are all healthy again.

He utilizes his speed to pressure opponents and kill penalties but doesn't move the needle much from a fantasy perspective.
