2025 Fantasy Outlook
Crosby topped the 90-point plateau for a third straight season in 2024-25, tallying 33 goals and 91 points over 80 appearances. The veteran forward was impressive in his age-37 campaign, leading the Penguins in assists (58), points, power-play goals (12), power-play points (27), game-winning goals (10) and shots on target (227). Last September, Crosby agreed to a two-year contract extension to remain in Pittsburgh, giving him at least one more season in a familiar setting before trade speculation intensifies again. However, he has full control of the situation with a no-movement clause and hasn’t indicated he wants to play elsewhere. As a result, fantasy managers should anticipate another productive showing from Crosby on the Penguins’ top line. Even as he heads into his age-38 season, he still has 30-40 goal potential and 90-plus point upside in 2025-26. Read Past Outlooks
Won't play against United States
Crosby (lower body) has been ruled out for Sunday's gold medal game against the United States at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
Crosby sustained his lower-body injury during Wednesday's quarterfinal matchup against Czechia and was unavailable for Friday's semifinal against Finland. The 38-year-old was considered a game-time decision for Sunday's gold medal game after skating at a closed practice Saturday, but he'll ultimately be held out against Team USA in what seems likely to be his final Olympics. Crosby will now shift his focus toward the resumption of the NHL season, and it's not yet clear whether he'll be able to suit up for the Penguins' matchup against New Jersey on Thursday.

For the second straight season and third time in his career, Crosby played in all 82 games during the regular season. With a full campaign, the world-class center was also able to get over the 90-point threshold in consecutive seasons while scoring 40-plus goals for just the third time in 19 NHL campaigns. Eventually, Father Time will catch up to "Sid the Kid," but it appears the 36-year-old phenom has staved off a drop in production for at least one more year. The questions surrounding Crosby heading into the 2024-25 campaign are less about his individual performance and more team-focused, like who will replace the departed Jake Guentzel on Crosby's wing or will the Penguins get back into the postseason. Crosby figures to offer elite fantasy value as he tries for a third consecutive 90-point season - a prospect that could be made easier if Pittsburgh can improve upon a power play that converted at a dismal 15.3 percent rate last year.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Leaving Pens in play
Crosby's agent, Pat Brisson, has put leaving Pittsburgh in play by saying "a trade is always a possibility," Mark Madden of TribLive reports.
ANALYSIS
Crosby has been with the Penguins for two decades, but with Pittsburgh unlikely to contend this season, the 38-year-old would likely have to approve a trade elsewhere if he were to contend for another Stanley Cup. His agent compared his situation to that of Tom Brady's in the NFL, a player who left the only franchise he ever knew to go win one last championship with a different team. The 2005 No. 1 overall selection can certainly still play, as he's coming off a 91-point season last year.
