2025 Fantasy Outlook
Holmstrom has been a model of efficiency in his young career, shooting above 20 percent in two straight years. The 24-year-old had a larger role in 2024-25 -- his average ice time rose from 13:19 in 2023-24 to 16:52 last year. He turned that into more production, recording 20 goals and 25 assists, up from 15 and 10, respectively. That shooting percentage will be extremely hard to sustain, but through exactly 200 games, his career shooting percentage is 19.8 percent. He has upside, but he's a tough player to project because of the lack of shot volume (96 shots on goal in 75 games). Given his status as a top-six winger, it’ll be crucial that he generates more shots, whether he can maintain his high efficiency or not. He could score 10 goals or 30 goals in 2025-26, and it wouldn’t be too shocking one way or the other. Read Past Outlooks
Nets OT winner Saturday
Holmstrom scored the game-winning goal and recorded two blocked shots in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Blue Jackets.
ANALYSIS
Holmstrom played the hero in overtime by handling the puck back and forth in front of Columbus netminder Jet Greaves before burying the winning goal. With the OT tally, Holmstrom is up to 14 goals, 32 points, 66 shots on net and 40 blocked shots across 58 games this season. The 24-year-old winger entered the Olympic break hot and has maintained his success with three points in two games since NHL action resumed. While he isn't known to shoot the puck at a high rate, his shooting percentage of 21.2 allows him to remain fantasy relevant in most category-league formats.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
It was a career season for Holmstrom, as he set new personal bests in nearly every fantasy category including goals (15), assists (10), shots on net (72), hits (19) and blocked shots (46). Perhaps most impressive, of the 23-year-old winger's 15 tallies, five were scored shorthanded, which was just one behind Travis Konecny for the league lead. Looking ahead to the 2024-25 campaign, the playmaker could be in line for a role with one of the power-play units, which would help bolster his offensive output and could see him challenge for the 20-goal and 40-point marks - making him an intriguing fantasy target.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could be scratched
Per Stefen Rosner of NYI Hockey Now, if Kyle Palmieri, who's been dealing with an upper-body injury, and Anthony Beauvillier, who's been sidelined with a shoulder injury, play Tuesday against Boston, Holmstrom will likely sit as a healthy scratch.
ANALYSIS
Holmstrom's appeared in nine straight games for the Islanders, picking up one helper over that span, but it appears as though he may be the odd man out now that the team is getting healthy up front.
