2025 Fantasy Outlook
After spending most of 2023-24 with the Devils (60 games), the 21-year-old played only 27 regular-season games last season, spending most of the year with AHL Utica instead. He had a good season with the Comets, notching five goals and 18 assists in 34 games, and played his way back to the NHL by the end of the year and onto the Devils' playoff roster. The stage seems to finally be set for the young, all-around defenseman to grab a full-time roster spot. The second overall pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, Nemec boasts offensive tools that could make him a point-scoring, valuable fantasy defenseman one day, but that might not happen right away in the 2025-26 season when you account for the presence of Dougie Hamilton and Luke Hughes as the two New Jersey defensemen most likely for power-play time. Puts away empty-netter
Nemec scored an empty-net goal on two shots and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Nemec ended a nine-game point drought with the tally. The 22-year-old defenseman is filling a bottom-four role, though the Devils often spread the ice time around on defense. He has nine goals, 21 points, 72 shots on net, 66 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating over 47 appearances. If the Devils can trade Dougie Hamilton prior to Friday's deadline, Nemec would be in the best position to see an increased role, particularly on the power play.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
As a rookie, Nemec put together a decent campaign last year in which he recorded three goals on 73 shots, 16 assists and two power-play points in 60 contests. While the 20-year-old blueliner averaged 1:17 of ice time with the man advantage in 2023-24, he could struggle to maintain that role heading into the upcoming campaign with a healthy Dougie Hamilton in the mix alongside Luke Hughes. Still, even without a major power-play role, Nemec should be capable of getting over the 20-point threshold, and he could even challenge for 30. If he can get some power-play minutes, that number could go even higher in 2024-25.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Drawing trade interest
Nemec could see himself traded away from New Jersey if the organization can upgrade its forward group, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Nemec has struggled offensively since returning from a lower-body injury in early January, producing just three points in his last 16 outings. Despite his recent slump, the 22-year-old blueliner has already set new personal bests with nine goals and 21 points. If Nemec were to get moved, it would open up a spot in the lineup for Johnny Kovacevic.
