He will get plenty of ice time in Abbotsford and could be recalled later in the season. The Canucks recalled defenseman Victor Mancini in a corresponding move.

As noted by Rick Dhaliwal of CHEK, Willander and the Canucks can't sign deal until after his collegiate season with Boston University wraps up -- though that could happen Thursday if the Terriers lose to Ohio State. In his 35 games for Boston this year, the 2023 first-round pick notched two goals and 20 helpers. If he does link up with Vancouver this season, Willander will burn the first year of his entry-level deal.
