2025 Fantasy Outlook
There were more lows than highs for Jarry in 2024-25, a season that saw the netminder waived to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in January. At the time, he had a 3.31 GAA and a .884 save percentage in 22 games. That looked to be the end of his time with the Penguins, but Jarry got a chance at redemption and took it late in the year, going 8-4-2 with a 2.81 GAA and a .904 save percentage over 14 games after the trade deadline. At this point, nobody's expecting Vezina numbers from Jarry, especially behind a Pittsburgh defense that rarely makes his job easier. If last season proved anything, it's that nothing is guaranteed in the NHL, even with a $5.375 million cap hit. Jarry can be helpful as a No. 3 goalie in fantasy if he gets the starting job, but his numbers are likely to be volatile again in 2025-26. Read Past Outlooks
Flipped in blockbuster trade
Jarry was traded to the Oilers from the Penguins on Friday, along with Samuel Poulin, in exchange for Stuart Skinner, Brett Kulak and a 2029 second-round pick.
ANALYSIS
Before the season started, Jarry didn't have much value on the trade market after having been sent down to the minors twice last year. Now, with the British Columbia native having seemingly rediscovered his game, going 9-3-1 with one shutout and a 2.66 GAA. The move comes as a bit of a surprise, considering the Penguins are currently holding onto a playoff spot. With Skinner coming the other way, this represents a salary dump for the Penguins, who shed two more years of Jarry at $5.375 million AAV, while getting back Skinner's expiring deal.

Once again, Jarry enters the upcoming campaign surrounded by more questions than answers after the netminder was dropped from the starting gig in the final month of the 2023-24 season in favor of Alex Nedeljkovic. The 29-year-old Jarry was limited to just one appearance in the Penguins' final 12 games of the season. It was also the first time since 2018-19, when he played in just two games, that the polarizing backstop failed to reach the 20-win mark, finishing the year with a 19-25-5 record. Still, the British Columbia-born goaltender showed flashes of his talent, posting a league-high six shutouts, which further confuses the netminding situation in Pittsburgh. At least for now, Jarry figures to be the No. 1 option heading into training camp but could certainly be challenged for the starting job - especially with Nedeljkovic back with the Penguins on a two-year contract to compete with him.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Trade imminent
Jarry is expected to be traded to Edmonton on Friday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
ANALYSIS
Jarry has been putting together a strong start to the 2025-26 campaign, going 9-3-1 with a 2.66 GAA and one shutout in 14 appearances. The 30-year-old netminder's resurgence is one of the reasons the Penguins find themselves holding on to a wild-card spot about a third of the way into the season. Given the team's recent performance, it may come as a surprise to many that general manager Kyle Dubas is pulling the trigger, though it opens the door for Arturs Silovs and Sergei Murashov to be the tandem in Pittsburgh -- assuming one of Edmonton's goalies isn't coming the other way.
