Victor Soderstrom

The Coyotes have been very careful with Soderstrom, who they drafted No. 11 overall in 2019. He finally made his NHL debut late last season, picking up a goal and an assist in four games with Arizona. Soderstrom spent the majority of the 2020-21 campaign with AHL Tucson, where he managed two goals and 10 points in 32 games. The 20-year-old blueliner has enough offensive ability to help out on the power play here and there, but he's not a dynamic offensive talent and there's no reason to expect him to pile up the points in the coming season. He's much more likely to be of use to the Coyotes on the ice than to fantasy mangers in 2021-22.

Soderstrom is not expected to make the leap to the big club in 2020-21. He's accrued 23 points in 79 games with Brynas IF of the SHL over the last two years, but he's probably not ready for the physicality of NHL hockey at this stage in his development. Soderstrom's primary competition for a roster spot will come from Jordan Oesterle and Ilya Lyubushkin, who both play on Soderstrom's preferred right side. The 11th overall pick from 2019, Soderstrom will likely need a year or two with AHL Tucson before he's ready to contribute consistently at the NHL level. Nonetheless, fantasy managers in dynasty formats may want to consider stashing the 19-year-old away.
