After a tough start to the season with the Kraken, a mid-season trade to the Rangers helped turn Borgen’s year around. He scored four goals and added nine assists in 51 games with the Rangers after scoring just two points in 33 games with the Kraken. Borgen saw his role and ice time increase with the Rangers, playing in the top four and averaging over 18 minutes per night after averaging just over 15 minutes of ice time with the Kraken. The 28-year-old defenseman has a physical aspect to his game and some more offense to give, topping out at 203 hits and 25 points at different points in his career. Once again, Borgen played in all 82 regular-season games for the second straight year while seeing an uptick in minutes, averaging 17:35 of ice time. While he certainly won't be confused for a Norris Trophy contender, the physical blueliner is coming off a 2023-24 in which he set new personal bests with 22 assists and 25 points. While he can probably be safely relied upon to get between 25-30 points next year, the Minnesota native's real value will come in formats that utilize blocked shots and hits, of which he managed 111 and 195, respectively, last season.
