Re-signs with Sens
Bourgault has signed a one-year, two-way contract to remain with the Senators, PuckPedia reports.
ANALYSIS
Bourgault has yet to make an appearance in the NHL in his career, but the 22-year-old has done well at the AHL level. Last season, he finished with 12 goals and 14 assists in 61 games with AHL Belleville, his first full season in the Senators organization after being traded from Edmonton last offseason. Bourgault will likely remain in the AHL to start next season, but he should be in the mix for a call-up should the situation call for one.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
After recording eight goals, 20 points and 24 PIM in 55 regular-season contests with AHL Bakersfield in 2023-24, Bourgault will enter training camp with a chance of making Ottawa's roster as a member of the fourth line. Although he's not expected to have much, if any, fantasy value in 2024-25, you might want to keep an eye on the Quebec native anyway. At one time he was considered to be a good prospect -- Edmonton took him with the No. 22 overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft -- so perhaps he'll make strides after a quiet start to his pro career.

Potential trade chip?
Bourgault isn't expected to be kept off limits by the Oilers if trading him could help the team secure an ideal return, The Athletic's Daniel Nugent-Bowman reports.
ANALYSIS
As Nugent-Bowman notes, Bourgault has regressed statistically this year -- he picked up 13 goals and 34 points through 62 AHL appearances in 2022-23 and has only five goals and 14 points through 35 AHL contests in 2023-24 -- so the Oilers likely wouldn't hesitate to ship him out in order to acquire a difference maker at the trade deadline.
