Gets right back in win column
Bolanos defeated Cortavious Romious via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Bolanos deserved to win this fight on the strength of landing the much bigger blows, but it was far from a flawless effort. He allowed Romious to connect on 4-of-6 takedown attempts, good for 6:13 worth of control time. Luckily for Gaston, he picked up a couple takedowns of his own and closed with an 80-30 edge in terms of total strikes landed. Bolanos is a quality striker with some grit and durability to his game. The grappling remains a work in progress, but with wins in two of his first three UFC bouts, the roster spot of the long-term Bellator veteran is plenty secure.

Third trip to Octagon set
Bolanos will take on Cortavious Romious in a bantamweight matchup at UFC Vegas 100 on November 9, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Bolanos was victorious over Aaron Phillips via decision in his UFC debut back in April of 2023, but took a step back this past January when he was finished by Marcus McGhee in Round 2. He'll look to bounce back against Romious, who earned his opportunity with a victory over Michael Imperato on Dana White's Contender Series last August. Bolanos will have height and reach advantages on paper, in addition to a slight edge in striking volume.

Suffers first UFC defeat
Bolanos lost to Marcus McGhee via TKO (strikes) at 3:29 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
There are serious questions regarding the grappling game of Bolanos, but his striking skills aren't in question. That makes this performance all the more concerning. He was battered on the feet by McGhee in what was primarily a kickboxing match. He landed just 28 total strikes compared to 74 from his opponent, and there's zero question which man connected with the more meaningful blows throughout the duration of the fight. It wasn't Gaston. Bolanos handled a lower-end opponent in Aaron Phillips in his UFC debut last April, but he was up and down in a nine-fight Bellator run prior to his arrival in the company. There might not be much here.

McGhee fight rescheduled
Bolanos will take on Marcus McGhee in a bantamweight matchup at UFC Vegas 83 on January 13, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
This was a matchup originally scheduled for last August, but Bolanos was forced to withdraw due to undisclosed reasons. McGhee went on to defeat JP Buys as a heavy favorite on that card to improve to 2-0 under the UFC banner and 8-1 as a professional. Bolanos, meanwhile, has yet to fight since his debut victory over Aaron Phillips in April.

Withdraws from McGhee fight
Bolanos will not fight Marcus McGhee at UFC Vegas 78 on Aug. 12, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Bolanos withdrew from fighting McGhee for undisclosed reasons. Fortunately for the latter, he will compete against JP Buys instead of having his bantamweight matchup canceled.
