Hamdy Abdelwahab

Usman date moved
HeavyweightUFC
April 3, 2025
Abdelwahab's scheduled heavyweight matchup against Mohammed Usman has been moved from May 17 to June 21, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
The May 17 card was scheduled for Qatar but currently appears to be in question, though the UFC has yet to officially announce a location for its June 21 event. Regardless of location, Abdelwahab will look to extend his winning streak to two against Usman, who has lost back-to-back fights.

Will face Mo Usman
HeavyweightUFC
February 24, 2025
Abdelwahab will face Mohammed Usman at UFC Qatar on May 17, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Abdelwahab defeated Jamal Pogues via split decision in Saudi Arabia on Feb. 1 after a long layoff, as this was his first fight since July 2022, but it seems he's ready to step on the octagon once again. The 32-year-old doesn't have a lot of experience for someone his age, but he'll look to deliver another impressive bout against an opponent that has dropped his last two fights.
Wins in return from long layoff
HeavyweightUFC
February 1, 2025
Abdelwahab defeated Jamal Pogues via split decision (29-28, 27-30, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
ANALYSIS
Fighting for the first time since July 2022, Hamdy once again has his first UFC win under his belt. Of course, he defeated Don'Tale Mayes that evening before it was changed to a no-contest. Although he got the win here, Abdelwahab didn't show much. He landed just 44 significant strikes and connected on his only takedown attempt. With just a handful of pro fights under his belt at age 32, there's little upside here.
Will fight Pogues
HeavyweightUFC
November 12, 2024
Abdelwahab will take on Jamal Pogues in a heavyweight bout at UFC Saudi Arabia on Feb. 1, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Abdelwahab was suspended for six months back in July for exogenous testosterone, but he's now scheduled his first fight since August. This will be his first official UFC bout as his fight with Don'Tale Mays back in July of 2022 was deemed a no-contest. His opponent Pogues, meanwhile, is coming off just his second career UFC win.
Handed suspension
HeavyweightUFC
July 31, 2024
Abdelwahab has been suspended six months by the UFC's antidoping program for exogenous testosterone, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Abdelwahab was already serving a drug suspension, which is why the punishment is six months and not three. The heavyweight has yet to complete his first fight in the UFC, and now he'll have a tough road to return to the promotion after a six-month hiatus.
Out of Abu Dhabi
HeavyweightUFC
September 12, 2022
Abdelwahab is out of his fight against Parker Porter at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi on Oct. 22, Brett Okamoto of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear at this time why Abdelwahab is unable to go in this bout that was scheduled last month. Slim Trabelsi has been signed by the UFC to make his promotional debut against Porter (a bout that was later scrapped due to contract issues on Trabelsi's side). Abdelwahab was coming off a split decision upset win in his UFC debut back in July.
