Ashmouz has withdrawn from his scheduled fight against Nurullo Aliev at UFC Vegas 101, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
The reasoning for Ashmouz's withdrawal remains unknown, but it means the 29-year-old lightweight will have to wait a bit longer before getting a chance to follow up his win over Trevor Peek in September. In the meantime, Joe Solecki will take Ashmouz's place against Aliev next Saturday.

Ashmouz is scheduled to compete against Nurullo Aliev in a lightweight fight at UFC Vegas 101 on Jan. 11, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Ashmouz will finish his 2024 with a 1-0 record, the win recorded via a decision over Trevor Peek. He will look to continue his positive momentum in 2025 against a fellow lightweight trying to get any positive momentum his way after sitting out 2023 with a leg injury.

Ashmouz defeated Trevor Peek via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
In a day and age in which very few fighters display a solid fight IQ, Ashmouz proved to be the exception in this fight. These two got after it on the feet early on, and Yanal didn't do well. To his credit, he completely flipped the script and leaned on his grappling and it changed the entire course of the bout. Spamming together takedown attempts the rest of the way, Ashmouz landed 9-of-18 tries for 8:16 worth of control time. That was more that enough to ensure Peek had zero shot of completing his comeback attempt. The 29-year-old has now alternated wins and losses in his first three UFC bouts.

Ashmouz is scheduled to compete against Trevor Peek in a lightweight fight at UFC Vegas 97 on September 7, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
After a year since his last fight, Ashmouz will face Trevor Peek in a bout. Yanal's last fight ended in a loss via unanimous decision against Chris Duncan, in which he did not look as effective compared to his previous match against Sam Patteron, sealing the victory in that fight with a 75-second knockout. Peek is also coming off a tough loss and has been quite volatile when it comes to his bouts.
Struggles in second UFC bout

Ashmouz lost to Chris Duncan via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in London.
ANALYSIS
Ashmouz surprised many with his 75-second knockout win over Sam Patterson in his UFC debut this past March, but he wasn't the least bit competitive against Duncan here despite entering as a very small (+120) underdog. Ashmouz got considerably less effective as the fight progressed, struggling to get his head off the center line and absorbing far too much damage. Ashmouz did well to see the final bell, but this was such a poor performance that you can't help but wonder if the result of the Patterson fight was a fluke.
