Antonelli began the weekend in questionable form, as he qualified seventh for the sprint race and was nearly 0.5 seconds off the pace of teammate George Russell. However, he turned things around for the grand prix, closing his gap to Russell to under 0.2 seconds in qualifying to line up fifth on the grid.
