Wins Belgian Sprint Pole
Piastri took Sprint pole position ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix this weekend, beating Max Verstappen by nearly half a second as McLaren team mate Lando Norris could only salvage third, Formula1.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Teams were forced to wait until the final minutes of SQ3 to use their only remaining soft tyres for a run at the pole position. Verstappen would set the early marker to beat and Piastri would soon eclipse his time. The McLaren youngster would post a lap of 1:40.510 to beat out the Red Bull Racing star by nearly a half-second. Piastri will start P1 for Saturday's Sprint at the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit and be the driver to beat.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
The Australian rookie Piastri has quite the shoes to fill in his first season with Formula One, taking former McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo's spot as Lando Norris' teammate for the 2023 campaign. Piastri was quite the phenom in his last season with Formula 2 in 2021, winning a total of six times, earning 252 points, and walking away with the Driver's Championship after just 23 starts in the series. The driver of the No. 81 will have a lot of eyes on his on-track performance this year, as McLaren is famous for their incoming drivers having issues sufficiently adapting to the feeling and handling of the car. In the upcoming season, Piastri's greatest challenge will be learning how to adjust his racing style to fit the capabilities of the MCL36 and where he fits amongst all the new talent on the grid this season.
