Best MLB Bets Today

Washington vs. Atlanta: MacKenzie Gore over 4.5 strikeouts, -136 @ FanDuel

Gore spent time on the injured list due to shoulder inflammation earlier this month, but he hasn't seemed overly affected by the injury since returning to the mound. Through two outings since coming off the IL, he's given up two runs in 10.1 innings with a 9:5 K:BB. Gore had a solid performance the last time out, tossing 5.1 scoreless innings in a no-decision against Atlanta while striking out five. Considering that Gore has established a new career-high mark in strikeouts with 182 (in only 157.2 innings) in 2025, he'll aim to close out the year on a strong note. He's fanned five or more in four of his previous six appearances. Plus, Gore ranks fourth in the NL with 10.39 K/9, so the ability to punch out hitters is certainly there.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. San Diego Padres: Jake Cronenworth over 0.5 total bases, -120 @ BetMGM

Cronenworth might not be a household name on offense for a Padres lineup that features the likes of Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis as primary threats. However, the second baseman is getting the job done and enters Monday's game having reached base safely in all but one of his last eight games. Over that stretch, Cronenworth is hitting .320 with a .393 OBP and an .833 OPS. The streak is bound to end at some point, and his September numbers are far more pedestrian -- a .246 average and a .678 OPS over 19 games. But given the way he's seeing the ball, Cronenworth should be able to reach base at least once even with the Brewers are sending Freddy Peralta to the mound. Peralta owns a 1.43 ERA and a 0.91 WHIP with a 61:19 K:BB in 44 innings across eight starts since the beginning of August.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. San Francisco Giants: Justin Verlander under 1.5 earned runs, +126 @ DraftKings

Verlander might be 42 years old and past his prime, but you wouldn't be able to tell that by the way he's been pitching of late. The three-time AL Cy Young winner and 2011 AL MVP has gone 3-2 with a 2.17 ERA in his last 11 starts, and his ERA is a minuscule 0.87 in his previous five outings. During that stretch, the veteran has posted outstanding numbers: that 0.87 ERA, a 1.03 WHIP and a 28:12 K:BB in 31 innings. That might not be sustainable in the long term, but with the Giants facing a must-win game against the Cardinals on Monday, expect Verlander to be at his best against a slumping lineup that doesn't have much to play for in the final week of the regular season. Verlander has allowed two runs or fewer in each of his last five starts.
