Key MLB Betting Trends and Matchups Analysis

Betting playoff baseball is a completely different animal as you have the best pitching, hitting, bullpens, etc. going against each other. Rotations are no longer lined up like they were in the last round, so we are seeing larger moneylines and totals.

There will be more bullpen games, so it is important to try and piece together what you think each team will do in regards to pitching. This also means the benches will come into play a lot more in a seven-game series.

Dodgers vs Blue Jays Best Bets and Predictions

Game 5 of the 2025 World Series takes place Wednesday in Los Angeles at Dodgers Stadium. The Dodgers and Blue Jays are tied 2-2 after a 6-2 win by Toronto on Tuesday.

We get a Game 1 rematch with rookie RHP Trey Yesavage taking the mound for the Blue Jays against Dodgers LHP Blake Snell. The Jays got to Snell in Game 1 for five earned runs, eight hits, and three walks in five innings. Yesavage went just 4.0 innings allowing two earned runs, four hits, and three walks.

The Dodgers opened as -216 home favorites with a total of 8.0 runs.  The moneyline dropped to -206 with initial money coming in on the Blue Jays.

The Dodgers were -150 road favorites in Game 1, and they lost.  They were -143 road favorites, and they won 5-1. In Game 3, which was in Los Angeles, it closed as -200 home favorites and were close to the same number in Game 4.

I went all in on the Dodgers and Blake Snell in Game 1 and got burned, as the Jays got to him early. The Jays lineup is the toughest in baseball, as they do not strikeout, and they initiate hard contact consistently. They are also strong against left-handed pitching. The Dodgers lineup is really struggling when you look beneath the surface.

I wrote about the Jays pitching being in better shape in Game 4, and that played out. I think we are in the same situation Wednesday night once this game gets beyond both starting pitchers. The Dodgers MUST have Snell go six, if not seven, innings Wednesday in order to win.

I am not a believer in a "must-win" game, or "they cannot lose", in referencing the Dodgers at home. I think the Jays take Game 5, go back to Toronto up 3-2, but we also should get a 7-game series.
