I'm focused on the last two games of Wednesday's long slate, a pair of National League battles where I see the visitors with a noteworthy pitching advantage in one, and a likely low-scoring affair during a battle of talented southpaws in the other.

Key MLB Betting Trends and Matchups Analysis

Miami Marlins at Colorado Rockies Best Bets

This Ryan Weathers-McCade Brown pitching matchup has a typical Coors projected total of 10.5 runs, and the Marlins are listed as fairly solid road favorites. The disparity in the two hurlers is playing a significant part in that calculation, as Weathers has been markedly more effective than his counterpart this season.

Miami's southpaw checks in with a 2-1 record, 2.73 ERA and 1.04 WHIP overall, and in his return from a three-month-plus stay on the injured list last Thursday, he blanked the Washington Nationals over five innings. Weathers has actually been even slightly better on the road, where he has a 2.63 ERA and 0.95 WHIP over a modest sample of 13.2 innings.

The left-hander has also held opponents to averages of .224 and .234 his first and second time through the order, which puts him in good position to help the Marlins hold a lead after five innings, despite the fact the Rockies have been solid against left-handers at home in the second half of the season.

Brown is slogging through a difficult rookie season that's seen him pitch to a 9.88 ERA and 2.12 WHIP in his first four starts. He's allowed three homers in his first 13.2 innings as well, and he's yet to make it out of the fifth inning. The young righty is facing a Marlins team that has a solid .263 average and .740 OPS against right-handers on the road in the last month of play, while also ranking in the top 10 in MLB with 2.6 runs per first five innings per road game.

My main bet is a same-game parlay that banks on the Marlins having a lead after five behind Weathers, while both teams combine for at least four runs, which is a modest number at Coors. Additionally, with the Marlins' star rookie Jakob Marsee owning  a .311 average, .509 slugging percentage and .386 wOBA against righties, and Brown surrendering a .357 average to the 38 left-handed hitters he's faced thus far, I like the former to get to at least two total bases.

Philadelphia Phillies at Los Angeles Dodgers Best Bets

Phillies LHP Jesus Luzardo and Dodgers LHP Blake Snell face off in this West Coast battle, and the likely pitcher's duel sees both southpaws come in with strong track records against the opposition.

Luzardo has already accrued a career-high 14 wins, and he has been at his best on the road, where he owns a 3.55 ERA and 1.35 WHIP, along with a 0.6 HR/9. However, when he has had trouble, it's often been earlier in games, as he's allowed .247 and .263 averages his first and second time through the order, respectively.

Luzardo has held current Dodgers bats to a collective .221 average and .264 OBP across 72 career plate appearances, however, so while I like Los Angeles to have a lead by the end of five, I'm pairing that bet with one that banks on a relatively low-scoring first half of the game.

Snell has been even more effective against the Phillies, holding their current hitters to a .151/.271/.301 slash over 85 career encounters, a sample where he's rang up 29 strikeouts. He's mostly been successful, save for a couple of mistake pitches in a pair of particularly high-profile same-handed matchups -- he's limited the dangerous duo of Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber to a combined 4-for-21 (.190) tally with a pair of homers.

Snell has a sparkling 4-1 record, 1.44 ERA, 10.3 K/9 and 0.3 HR/9 across 31.1 innings at Dodger Stadium, which also gives me confidence in the southpaw being able to get to at least 17 outs in the player prop that I'm going with in this spot.
