Jeremiyah Love

While there were some questions as to how much each of the running backs would be used in 2025, Love emerged as the odds-on favorite to claim the lead role in the backfield as the preseason progressed. That eventually came to fruition, with Love handling a 32 percent carry share to lead the running back room by 11 percent over Jadarian Price. It was, in fact, quarterback Riley Leonard who was second on the team with 124 carries during the regular season. The Fighting Irish offense was efficient enough to get Love into the end zone on the ground at least once in each of the 12 regular-season contests, and he finished with at least two touchdowns (either rushing or a combination of rushing and receiving) in four of 12 contests. Following the graduation of Leonard, CJ Carr appears poised to claim the starting role under center. While Carr has some functional mobility, he's far from the rusher that Leonard was, so the rushing attack should fall more to Love and the running back room. Jadarian Price remains the support option here, but Love could be bound for a career year in the backfield in 2025 as the Fighting Irish prepare for a somewhat softer schedule. Read Past Outlooks
