EuroLeague Basketball Picks: Best Bets for Round 24 - Friday

If things fall the right way, Kurt Jones believes ASVEL's Thomas Heurtel will be one of the top plays to consider on Friday's EuroLeague slate.
EuroLeague Basketball Picks: Best Bets for Round 24 - Friday

Best EuroLeague Bets for Friday, Jan. 23

All odds for EuroLeague player props current as of 9:00 AM ET Friday.

PICKS TO CLICK

Matt Morgan Under 12.5 Points (-110 bet365)

I'm surprised this number is still this high with Luca Vildoza expected back and a matchup that isn't friendly to undersized guards -- especially ones who aren't elite shooters like teammate Carsen Edwards. With the full backcourt available for Virtus, Morgan's floor is pretty low, and for a player working off the bench I will gladly take this shot.

Shaquille Harrison Over 13.5 Points+Rebounds+Assists (-135 bet365)

Thomas Heurtel 15+ Points (+180 DraftKings)

I'm only going with a half unit on Heurtel -- if I go with anything at all, pending the status of Glynn Watson. If Watson is active, this becomes a stay-away due to rotation uncertainty.

However, I'm going right back to both players if Watson remains sidelined.

We cashed Heurtel ladders after it was announced that Watson would miss Round 23, which is why it's crucial to turn on notifications for both @RotoWireEuro and my personal X account -- @kurtancall. Harrison fell short, but Heurtel carried the day.

Harrison couldn't buy a bucket last time out, and with Heurtel and Edwin Jackson playing well, he wasn't forced to push offense. Harrison is simply too good of a player to fall short again in the same scenario.

Tornike Shengelia 15+ Points (+103 DraftKings)

Shengelia hasn't cleared 15 points in a while despite Will Clyburn's absence, which is exactly why I want to attack this spot. It feels like a "when, not if" situation with a player of his caliber. ASVEL cedes plenty of points at every position, and a hot start could have Shengelia cruising the rest of the way. If this game stays close, his ability to deliver at the foul line and in isolation gives us hope for 4–to-6 late points.

Nando de Colo Under 18.5 Points+Assists (-118 bet365)

If Wade Baldwin IV suits up and de Colo remains in a reserve role, I'm firing on this under. In such a scenario, there should be a cap on de Colo's usage and minutes, which likely would not top 24. As always with unders, if de Colo shoots 75 percent from the field, so be it.

Keep a close eye on RotoWire's EuroLeague Starting Lineups page, because this is one I will happily lock in as soon as we get confirmation of the starting five.

PARLAY TO PLAY

Derrick Alston Jr 15+ Points + Nicolo Melli 8+ Points (+598 DraftKings)

We were so close Thursday, falling one Dwayne Bacon bucket away from a 7-1 parlay hit, so I'm giving it another shot Friday, albeit at a slightly worse number.

Red Star and Virtus played a 179-point, back-and-forth contest earlier this season, and Virtus is plenty capable of keeping pace with Carsen Edwards running the show. If Red Star plays at its usual fast tempo, we could be looking at another track meet, which sets up well for a high-usage, high-minute player like Alston.

As for Melli, he's not always shot-first, but with injuries to Bonzie Colston and Chris Silva he has been asked to do more and has delivered, reaching double digits in three of the last five Rounds. Melli is typically a trends-don't-matter type for me, but I have always targeted stretch bigs against Baskonia, which adds to the appeal here. This is strictly a home-run swing -- not a play I would make on its own.
