Jacory Croskey-Merritt

24-Year-Old Running BackRB
2025 Fantasy Outlook
A rookie seventh-round pick, Croskey-Merritt was expected to compete with Chris Rodriguez and Jeremy McNichols for the No. 3 RB job in Washington but may now have a shot at something bigger. The team traded Brian Robinson on Aug. 22, moving forward with Austin Ekeler, Croskey-Merritt, Rodriguez and McNichols in the backfield. Eligibility issues limited Croskey-Merritt to one game at Arizona last year, but he ran for 1,190 yards and 17 touchdowns at New Mexico the year before, and he posted a 4.45 40-yard dash at his pro day this spring. He caught just seven passes in 2023, however, and he enters the NFL as a 24-year-old rookie. If nothing else, the opportunity in Washington is an excellent one, allowing Croskey-Merritt to get his foot in the door immediately. Read Past Outlooks

Resting for preseason finale
RBWashington Commanders
August 23, 2025
Croskey-Merritt won't play in Saturday's preseason game against Baltimore, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Assuming a minor injury isn't at play, this is the latest hint that Croskey-Merritt is on track for not only a roster spot but also a Week 1 role on offense. The Commanders traded Brian Robinson to the 49ers on Friday, leaving Croskey-Merritt and Chris Rodriguez as the favorites to split backfield work with Austin Ekeler, although Jeremy McNichols could also factor in a bit. Ekeler is also listed among the 33 Commanders that won't play Saturday, but Rodriguez and McNichols aren't.

Fourth on initial depth chart
RBWashington Commanders
September 4, 2025
Croskey-Merritt is listed fourth on Washington's unofficial depth chart heading into the regular season.
ANALYSIS
The Commanders may just be listing the rookie seventh-round pick fourth on the depth chart out of respect for the edge in experience of the other three running backs on the roster, but this placement suggests it's possible Croskey-Merritt won't necessarily play a significant role early on despite the team having traded away Brian Robinson to San Francisco. Austin Ekeler's atop the depth chart, followed by Jeremy McNichols, Chris Rodriguez and Croskey-Merritt.
