2025 Fantasy Outlook
Robinson was traded to San Francisco on Aug. 22, after starting the last three years for Washington, a span in which he averaged roughly 965 rushing yards per 17 games, at 4.1 yards per carry. That likely makes Robinson a below-average pure runner by starting-RB standards, but his combination of size and decent passing-game skills has some value to an offense. In San Francisco, he'll compete with Isaac Guerendo for the No. 2 spot on the depth chart, needing an injury to Christian McCaffrey for any real shot at fantasy value. It's a far less promising situation than Robinson's former backfield timeshare with Austin Ekeler in Washington. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Gets 10 touches in SF debut
Robinson rushed nine times for 33 yards with one reception for four yards on two targets in Sunday's 17-13 win over Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Robinson had a smooth debut with San Francisco after being dealt from Washington just weeks before the start of the regular season. The 2022 third-round pick slotted directly behind starter Christian McCaffrey and handled 10 touches while playing 18 snaps on offense (24 percent). Robinson and his downhill running style should continue spelling CMC while receiving a handful of touches against the Saints next Sunday.

Robinson has yet to show explosiveness in the NFL while fumbling six times on 428 touches, but he remains the favorite for power-rushing work in a new-look Washington offense under coordinator Kliff Kingsbury. The bad news is that the Commanders signed Austin Ekeler, who could hold a monopoly on the passing-down snaps even after Robinson's 43 targets last season yielded a 36-368-4 receiving line. If Ekeler has a much larger role than what former backfield mate Antonio GIbson took on last year, Robinson's fantasy production will largely depend on Washington remaining competitive in any given game. There's also the potential for 2023 sixth-round pick Chris Rodriguez to steal some carries -- something that happened late last season before Rodriguez hurt his ankle -- especially if Robinson keeps fumbling (four in 2023) or simply isn't as highly regarded by the new coaching staff. Rodriguez might even be the more explosive runner of the two, so Robinson needs to minimize mistakes and perhaps do a better job using his 228-pound frame to pick up extra yards after contact.

ANALYSIS
Rumors had been swirling about Robinson being moved, and the fact he sat out Monday's preseason game against the Bengals only fueled that speculation. The Commanders will be saving $3.3 million in cap space with the move, while the 49ers gain a starting-quality depth piece behind Christian McCaffrey alongside Isaac Guerendo, who has a complicated injury history and has been dealing with a shoulder issue.
