Young impressed with his speed and contested-catch ability during the preseason and locked up the No. 5 wide receiver spot. He has put together minimal offensive production through three seasons in the league, but his special-teams attributes have kept him in the mix. Read Past Outlooks

Out for Sunday

Hamstring
September 5, 2025
Young (hamstring) won't play in Sunday's matchup against the 49ers, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Young downgraded from limited practice participation Wednesday to a DNP on Thursday, making it no surprise he'll miss Sunday's divisional contest. The fourth-year wideout played almost exclusively on special teams last season (228 special teams snaps), failing to catch his only target across 14 appearances. With Young and Jake Bobo (concussion) sidelined in Week 1, Cody White is expected to play as the Seahawks' No. 4 wideout.

How does the Steelers pass defense compare to other NFL teams this season?
The bars represents the team's percentile rank (based on QB Rating Against). The longer the bar, the better their pass defense is. The team and position group ratings only include players that are currently on the roster and not on injured reserve. The list of players in the table only includes defenders with at least 3 attempts against them.

2024
2023
2022
Young is on the roster bubble heading into 2024 after he played just nine offensive snaps over six games in 2023, as he struggled with multiple injuries. The 2022 seventh-round pick is an athletic specimen that showed promise on special teams, but the new regime in town may find his skillset redundant.
A seventh-round pick, Young earned a roster spot in camp but rarely played unless Marquise Goodwin was hurt. He finished with two catches for 24 yards. Young is still a project from a Division II school, but his standout athleticism - he ran a 4.47 40-yard dash with a 6-foot-3, 220-pound frame - is useful on special teams while he develops. The Seahawks won't need Young to make an impact this year as long as their three star receivers stay healthy.
Young beat out third-year receiver Freddie Swain and rookie seventh-round pick Bo Melton for the sixth wide receiver spot. An interesting prospect, Young was highly productive as a receiver and as a rusher at Division II Lenoir-Rhyne, and he ran a 4.47 40-yard dash at 6-foot-3, 220 pounds. He'll need some time to develop his skills at the NFL level and projects for limited usage in 2022.

WRSeattle Seahawks
August 16, 2025
Young continued his strong training camp with a good performance in the Seahawks' 33-16 preseason win over the Chiefs on Friday, finishing with three catches on as many targets for 52 yards, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Young saw additional work in Friday's game after Tory Horton left in the second quarter due to an ankle injury. Young played 22 snaps on offense and led both teams in receiving yards Friday while adding a 29-yard kickoff return early in the second quarter. The 2022 seventh-rounder has served mostly in a special teams role in the first three years of his NFL career, and that remains his clearest path to making the Seahawks' 53-man roster at the conclusion of training camp and preseason.
