24-Year-Old Wide ReceiverWR
Los Angeles Rams
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Whittington wasn't a prolific receiver at Texas, nor a standout during pre-draft testing, but he nonetheless built up some hype last summer after the Rams made him a sixth-round pick. Reports out of training camp suggested he was far ahead of the typical learning curve for a Day 3 pick -- a sentiment that was reinforced when he put up 126 receiving yards in two preseason games. Whittington was fourth or fifth on the depth chart for most of his rookie year, but when injuries to teammates opened up a starting job he responded with 13 catches for 151 yards on 18 targets in Weeks 4-5. He barely played for the next three months, apart from kickoff returns, before resurfacing Week 18 when the Rams rested starters and again putting up a strong stat line (3-86-0 receiving, plus two carries for 12 yards). Whittington's impressive production on a per-snap basis, along with his strength and physicality, suggest he may be the successor to Cooper Kupp in the slot for Los Angeles. The problem in terms of 2025 fantasy value is that the Rams have WRs Puka Nacua and Davante Adams locked in as their top two pass catchers, leaving Whittington and Tutu Atwell to compete for a No. 3 role that won't necessarily entail a lot of targets. Whittington rushed once for five yards and returned two kicks for 60 yards during Sunday's 14-9 win against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
The second-year wideout was a victim of bad luck in his first game of the season; he had a lengthy 74-yard kick return called back on a holding penalty and a 34-yard reception called back on another holding penalty. Whittington was on the field for half of the Rams' snaps on offense, a noticeable bump over his usage in the second half of his rookie campaign and slightly more than Tutu Atwell. The duo are seemingly still battling for the No. 3 wideout spot on the depth chart heading into a Week 2 contest against a Titans defense that just limited the Broncos to 176 receiving yards in Week 1.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
A rookie sixth-round pick out of Texas, Whittington entered the college ranks with a long list of accolades, but a myriad of injuries sapped much of the potential lurking in the wings. The wideout played in only 39 games in four collegiate seasons, and his stats were middling (139-1,740-5), but the Rams are thin at wide receiver beyond Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua and Demarcus Robinson. As a result, a path to reps as a rookie isn't out of the realm of possibility. Whittington did suffer a hamstring injury just before the NFL Combine, so long-term health is the biggest roadblock to finding a role as a backup in Year 1.

Jacob Robinson of The Athletic highlights Whittington as the Rams' breakout player during OTAs and minicamp.
ANALYSIS
Whittington took on a significant workload during spring practices while Puka Nacua was on an excused absence, and the former took advantage of the opportunity and drew praise from the coaching staff. Whittington didn't see a lot of playing time during his rookie campaign and didn't haul in a touchdown across 15 regular-season games, but he did start in three contests and posted 16 catches on 22 targets for 237 yards across those games. Given his performance during offseason practices, Whittington appears to have the edge over Tutu Atwell for the Rams' No. 3 wideout job behind Nacua and Davante Adams.
