Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Nwangwu spent most of last season on the Jets' practice squad but made a splash in the return game upon being promoted to the active roster, scoring a 99-yard kickoff return touchdown in one of his two appearances for the team before a season-ending hand injury. Prior to 2024, Nwangwu spent three seasons in Minnesota, where he rarely contributed on offense but amassed 68 kickoff returns. If Nwangwu makes the Jets' roster in 2025, it will likely be primarily to return kicks. Read Past Outlooks
Career-high six carries in Week 17
Nwangwu rushed six times for 31 yards and wasn't targeted in Sunday's 42-10 loss to the Patriots. He also returned four kickoffs for 114 yards.
ANALYSIS
Breece Hall (knee) and Isaiah Davis (concussion) both exited in the second half, opening the door for Nwangwu and Khalil Herbert to take on larger roles. Nwangwu's contributions are usually limited to special teams, and Sunday's six carries marked a new career high for the 27-year-old running back. He could see an expanded role again in Week 18 against the Bills if Hall and Davis aren't available.

2022
Nwangwu was primarily used on special teams last season, playing just 18 offensive snaps (11 touches). He used his 4.32 speed to churn out 920 yards and a TD on 35 kickoff returns. It's possible he's called on to use his speed in the offense more often this season following the release of Dalvin Cook. Alexander Mattison is the new starter, but Nwangwu could carve out a backup role. He'll compete with Ty Chandler, a 2022 fifth-round pick, and DeWayne McBride, a 2023 seventh-round pick. More likely, Nwangwu will be limited to kick-return duty once again.

Getting look from Jets
Nwangwu will visit the Jets on Monday, Judd Zulgad of SKOR North Minneapolis reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwangwu has had a busy offseason, as he was dumped by Minnesota after the preseason and then claimed by the Saints. However, he failed his physical in New Orleans and is now seeking another opportunity. The Jets likely have interest in Nwangwu as a special teams contributor, as he's been a strong kick returner in all three of his seasons as a pro.
