Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
An awful lot went wrong for Pittman in 2024, including, but not limited to, Anthony Richardson's inability to complete passes. Josh Downs' emergence also played a role, with the second-year slot man getting nearly as many targets as Pittman despite playing two fewer games. Then there was the matter of playing through a back injury from Week 5 onward. There was even discussion of placing Pittman on IR or shutting him down, yet he ended up closing out the season with 181 yards in Weeks 17-18 while catching passes from Joe Flacco. Believed to have avoided offseason surgery, Pittman will again be part of a WR room with three other Day 2 draft picks (he was a second-rounder in 2020), joined by Downs, Alec Pierce and Adonai Mitchell. The last two may not matter much for Pittman's volume projection, but Downs certainly does, and rookie tight end Tyler Warren adds a third candidate for short/intermediate targets. There were plenty of those targets for both Downs and Pittman when Flacco was under center last year... but not enough targets for either when Richardson got the nod. Richardson will never be a favorable QB for possession receivers, even if he improves drastically, which means the best-case scenario for Pittman's 2025 fantasy value might be another lost season for the Colts, with Daniel Jones throwing a bunch of short passes for a subpar team the way Flacco did last year. Paces pass catchers in win
Pittman secured six of eight targets for 80 yards and a touchdown in the Colts' 33-8 win over the Dolphins on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Pittman led the Colts in receiving yards while checking in second to rookie tight end Tyler Warren in both receptions and targets. The veteran receiver looked to be consistently on the same page with new quarterback Daniel Jones right from the jump, with the duo connecting for gains of 14 and 27 yards in the first two possessions, the latter going for a touchdown. Pittman should have a chance to serve as one of Jones' top targets again when the Colts face off with a talented Broncos defense at home in a Week 2 matchup next Sunday.

A 2020 second-round pick, Pittman has improved upon his totals for targets and receptions with each passing season, establishing himself as one of the league's better possession receivers whilst dealing with subpar QB play. The best he's seen was the final year of Philip Rivers' career, at which point Pittman was a rookie and only the No. 3 receiver behind T.Y. Hilton and Zach Pascal. While he's been the clear No. 1 for Indianapolis ever since, Pittman has been saddled with Carson Wentz, a brutal final season from Matt Ryan and then Gardner Minshew last year. Anthony Richardson might end up being miles better than all those guys after an injury-marred rookie year, but even if he is, it doesn't guarantee Pittman will improve his production. What might happen instead is Pittman improving his efficiency but losing volume, as an offense with Richardson and RB Jonathan Taylor presumably will have a lot of rush attempts. At 6-4, 223, with 4.52 speed, Pittman is perhaps better suited to his familiar possession role in any case, while rookie second-round pick Adonai Mitchell can work as more of a field-stretcher. 2023 third-round pick Josh Downs is the wild card, potentially impacting Pittman's dominant share of short targets.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could benefit from QB decision
Pittman will open the season catching passes from Daniel Jones, who was named the Week 1 starting quarterback Tuesday, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
ANALYSIS
Jones' skill set is likely more compatible with Pittman's, as Pittman gets most of his catches on short and intermediate routes. Anthony Richardson, who will begin the season as Jones' backup, is more reliant on deep throws and making plays with his legs. With Richardson starting the majority of the Colts' games in 2024, Pittman posted 808 receiving yards, which was the wideout's lowest total since his 503-yard rookie regular season in 2020.
