2025 Fantasy Outlook
After taking roughly a season and a half to acclimate, McBride has now delivered elite production for an equal stretch of time, dating back to mid-2023. His 111 catches and 1,146 receiving yards in 2024 were second most among TEs, behind only Brock Bowers, with McBride continuing his torrid pace from the final 10 games of 2023 (66 catches for 655 yards). The lone drawback in 2024 was a lack of receiving touchdowns (two, plus a third rushing) despite ranking second in the NFL with 22 red-zone targets. He has just six TDs among his 221 career receptions, but he did score in Weeks 17 and 18 of last season. The usage hints at potential for a big jump forward in TDs, even with WR Marvin Harrison providing solid competition for Kyler Murray's red-zone targets. Among tight ends, only Bowers has a similar volume ceiling, with McBride's 147 targets last year being the sixth-highest total among TEs over the past 12 seasons. He'll likely take a slight step back from last season’s average of 9.2 targets per game, especially if Harrison makes a second-year leap to stardom, but that might also be a scenario in which Arizona's offense improves and sets up McBride for more TDs. Six grabs in Week 1 win
TEArizona Cardinals
September 7, 2025
McBride caught six of nine targets for 61 yards in Sunday's 20-13 win over the Saints.
ANALYSIS
He led the Cardinals in receptions, but it was Marvin Harrison who produced a team-high 71 receiving yards. McBride is coming off a massive 2024 campaign in which he posted a 111-1,146-2 line on 147 targets, and while a breakout season from Harrison could cut into the tight end's volume, Arizona's target tree figures to be narrow. McBride will look to stay productive at home in Week 2 against the Panthers.

How does the Panthers pass defense compare to other NFL teams this season?
The bars represents the team's percentile rank (based on QB Rating Against). The longer the bar, the better their pass defense is. The team and position group ratings only include players that are currently on the roster and not on injured reserve. The list of players in the table only includes defenders with at least 3 attempts against them.

2022
McBride had just 265 receiving yards as a rookie but emerged as one of the league’s most productive tight ends in the second half of 2023. Veteran tight end Zach Ertz hurt his quadriceps Week 7 and didn’t play for Arizona again, opening the door for the 2022 second-round pick to catch 66 of 85 targets for 655 yards and three touchdowns over the final 10 games. Prorated to 17 games, those numbers work out to 112 catches for 1,114 receiving yards and five TDs on 145 targets, which would've made McBride the TE leader for targets and yardage last year. He should have a bit more competition for Kyler Murray's attention with No. 4 overall pick Marvin Harrison replacing Marquise Brown as the No. 1 receiver and Zay Jones adding depth, but it mostly looks the Cardinals are counting on McBride and the rookie to carry their passing game. Few TEs across the NFL, if any, have a higher volume ceiling than McBride, who caught five or more passes in seven of the eight games Murray started last year.
McBride became the first tight end taken in the 2022 NFL Draft when Arizona selected him out of Colorado State with the 55th overall pick. After racking up 1,121 receiving yards in his final college season, the 6-foot-4 tight end began his NFL career in a depth role but ascended to the top of the depth chart after Zach Ertz tore his ACL in Week 10. In the seven-game stretch from Week 11 onward, McBride caught 25 of 35 passes for 234 yards and his first NFL touchdown. Ertz’s rehab may stretch into the 2023 season, so McBride could pick up where he left off as the starter for an Arizona team that’s expected to be playing from behind much of the time but might struggle to move the ball if QB Kyler Murray is absent or limited as he works his way back from his own ACL tear.
Drafted 55th overall out of Colorado State this year, McBride’s expected to compete with Maxx Williams for snaps behind Zach Ertz in Arizona. Learning behind one of the best pass-catching tight ends of recent years could help McBride long term, but it also means targets and snaps will be hard to come by as a rookie, especially after the Cardinals used multiple tight ends on only 25 percent of offensive snaps last year. That number may go up now, but McBride’s short-term fantasy situation is still far from ideal. There is some potential for production if Ertz misses time, considering McBride ran a 4.56 40 at his pro day after catching 90 passes for 1,121 yards his final collegeiate season (albeit with only one touchdown). Despite the lack of red-zone production, McBride was the only tight end taken in the first two rounds of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Ranked fourth among TEs
TEArizona Cardinals
July 12, 2025
McBride was ranked the league's fourth-best tight end based on votes from a combination of NFL executives, scouts and coaches, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
McBride's 2024 production was right up there with that of Brock Bowers, who took home the top spot, but the superior blocking and red-zone production of George Kittle and Sam LaPorta convinced the voters to rank those two above McBride as well. McBride's a capable blocker, but he has only six touchdowns in three seasons, so he'll likely need to increase his scoring rate to climb any higher in these rankings moving forward.
