Harris recorded 38 total tackles (22 solo), including 1.0 sacks, while also adding three passes defensed and a forced fumble over nine games during the 2025 regular season.
ANALYSIS
Harris joined the Commanders as a free agent ahead of the 2025 campaign, inking a two-year, $8 million contract. The safety suffered a fractured fibula in Week 3 against the Raiders, ultimately missing eight games as a result. Harris was still able to register at least 38 takedowns for the fifth time in his seven-year career, while his sack of J.J. McCarthy in Week 14 was his first full sack since 2019. The 30-year-old appears to be on track to operate as one of the team's starting safeties again in 2026.

Harris signed a two-year contract with Washington this spring to replace Jeremy Chinn, who recorded 117 tackles last season. While he doesn't quite have Chinn's reputation as a thumping safety, Harris does have 53 career NFL starts to his name, including 13 last season for the Saints. His career high of 93 tackles came back in 2021 for the Lions, and he's recorded just 19 pass defenses and three interceptions across 94 regular-season games in the NFL.
Back in Detroit on a minor one-year deal, Harris is seeking to earn a roster spot after transitioning from safety to cornerback in 2022.
The clock seems to be ticking for Harris in Detroit. The 2019 third-round pick was supposed to shore up the safety spot next to Tracy Walker the past few seasons, but that never came to fruition. The candidates for that spot going forward seem to be DeShon Elliott and second-round rookie Kerby Joseph, though Harris could possibly earn a spot at nickelback after showing well there late last season.
Finishing with just eight less tackles (35) than his rookie season despite seeing less than twice as few snaps, Harris could be a surprise IDP factor if he can earn a starting spot with Detroit's new coaching staff.
Harris showed well for a third-round pick in 2019, benefitting from the Lions' frequent usage of three-safety looks and ultimately logging 675 defensive snaps as a rookie. With Duron Harmon replacing the departed Tavon Wilson this offseason but the only significant other addition to the safety room, Jayron Kearse, suspended for the first three games of the season, there again should be plenty of snaps for Harris to improve upon his inaugural stat line of 43 tackles and three pass breakups.
