2026 Fantasy Outlook

The 2025 season could be summed up as "what if" for DeChambeau. His victory at LIV Golf Korea was his first on the tour since 2023, he was the only member of the breakaway tour with two top-5 finishes at the majors (The Masters and PGA Championship), and he made history over the final three rounds of The Open Championship to crack into the top 10. However, it felt as though DeChambeau left a lot on the table in 2025, especially in the majors. He failed to make the cut in his U.S. Open Championship defense, finished second to Scottie Scheffler at the PGA Championship, and his brief lead at The Masters vanished in the final round, allowing Rory McIlroy to complete the coveted Grand Slam. In the LIV Golf League, DeChambeau had seven top-10 finishes and three top-5 finishes, which was enough for him to finish third in the Individual Season Standings behind fellow team captains Jon Rahm and Joaquin Niemann. DeChambeau led the LIV Golf league in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee (1.58) and scrambling opportunities (67.12 percent), and he finished in the top 10 in driving distance, birdies made, eagles made, putts per hole and GIR. DeChambeau posted a two-over 74 in the final round of LIV Golf Adelaide to finish tied with Tyrrell Hatton and Peter Uihlein for third.

ANALYSIS
Momentum appeared to be behind the Crushers GC captain after he fired an eight-under 64 in the third round to enter Championship Sunday tied with Jon Rahm at the top of the leaderboard at 19-under. However, the final round was a disaster for DeChambeau, who carded four bogeys over the first seven holes to fall out of contention with Rahm and eventual winner Anthony Kim. It was a disappointing finish for DeChambeau, who was vying for his fourth victory in the LIV Golf league (and first since Korea in May of 2025). Next up is LIV Golf Hong Kong on March 5, where DeChambeau finished T6 and T20 in 2024 and 2025, respectively.

DeChambeau’s success in 2024 was defined by his performances at the four major events, rather than in the LIV Golf League. He won two LIV Golf tournaments (Greenbrier and Chicago) in 2023, but he finished in the top-three only once in 2024 (LIV Golf Nashville), though his Crushers GC did manage to win three team events (Jeddah, Hong Kong and Chicago). However, DeChambeau more than made up for it in the majors, finishing in the top-10 at the Masters and PGA Championship before beating out Rory McIlroy to capture his second U.S. Open title. The only blemish to DeChambeau’s 2024 campaign was his failure to make the cut at The Open Championship at Royal Troon, though that particular major has been the most elusive for the two-time major champion. DeChambeau finished the 2024 LIV Golf season eighth in the individual season standings, led the league in driving distance (323.5 yards) and finished in the top-10 in GIR and birdies per round.

DeChambeau will play in all four majors in 2024 and last year showed he can still be dangerous. He tied for fourth at the Masters and for 20th at the PGA.

The 2020 U.S. Open champion will qualify for all four majors. DeChambeau was injured for much of last season and that could be a career-long concern because of his violent swing.

DeChambeau had quite the year, both on the course and back on the course. It seemed the off course drama followed him onto the course which made things a little more difficult to close the season. All the drama aside however, he had quite a season. DeChambeau posted incredible numbers in 2018 and decided that wasn't quite good enough so he fully transformed his body. The result was massive power followed by massive success. The 2020-21 season was his first full season as a beast and it looks like this new DeChambeau is here to stay. If he can move past the Brooks Koepka drama he could be the best golfer on the planet sometime soon. With that said, his number is too high for salary cap purposes. In draft leagues he's in the mix for the first overall pick.

No one dominated the headlines quite as much as DeChambeau this past season and that was due to both his physique and his game. DeChambeau made waves out of the break when he debuted his new bulked-up frame, but it wasn't just for show as his game was on-fire as well. DeChambeau posted top-10s in each of his first four starts after the break, culminating with a win at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. His production fell off a but after that, but you can expect that with an off-season to further figure out his swing mechanics, he'll be as good as ever this upcoming season.

DeChambeau's 2017-2018 season was absolutely insane. It would have been nearly impossible to replicate what he did during that season last year, but even with that said, more was expected. DeChambeau was north of $8 million just two years ago and while that seemed a little outrageous, something in the neighborhood of $5 million this past season was certainly within reason, but obviously that didn't happen. DeChambeau never found his stride this past season and his slow-play issues near the end likely wore on him. If he can get that behind him, (hopefully by speeding-up his play), then he should be back in the top-10 next season.

DeChambeau's ascent to the top of the PGA Tour hasn't taken long. DeChambeau first hit the scene in 2016 and he quickly made his mark. In his first full season on the PGA Tour, he picked up a runner-up at the Puerto Rico Open and a win at the John Deere Classic. Things were certainly looking up for DeChambeau and there was an expectation that he would continue to improve in 2017-18. To say he improved though is a huge understatement. DeChambeau blew all expectations out of the water with three wins and more than $8 million. The next step, of course, is a major, but whether he wins one this season, it will be tough to top what he accomplished last season. As such, he's not an option in salary cap formats. In draft formats he's a first-round pick.

If not for Jon Rahm, DeChambeau may have been the most hyped young player on the PGA Tour this past season. That gives you an idea of how highly those in the golf world think of DeChambeau. Though he started slowly last season, he managed to find his game at the John Deere Classic where he picked up his first career PGA Tour win. Though he failed to record a top-10 the rest of the season, he didn't fall off the map like some guys do after their first big win. With that in mind, DeChambeau holds plenty of value entering this season.

Here's the thing about DeChambeau: the dude's legit, but this is going to be a tough road for him. Yes, he nearly won the RBC Heritage in his first week on Tour but then he struggled, big time, missing four straight cuts. He admitted that he overprepared and worked too hard, perhaps expected considering the angles (figuratively and literally) at which he looks at golf. The man whose irons are the same length firmly believes he has the power to change golf -- and he very well might. Kudos to him for winning the DAP Championship in a playoff, the first Web.com Tour Finals event, to clinch his PGA Tour card. But getting acclimated to the traveling grind and learning all the golf courses on tour won't be easy - it's not even for the best -- and it wouldn't surprise if it takes the better part of a season for DeChambeau to work his way into a groove. That might not be a bust in a golf fan's eyes but in the eyes of a fantasy player it might not be good enough.
