NHL Monday Night: Top Betting Picks and Parlay Insights

St. Louis Blues at Pittsburgh Penguins

The Blues (3-4-1) and the Penguins (6-2-1) meet at PPG Paints Arena in the NHL Network game at 7 p.m. ET.

The home team has won the past four meetings in each of the past two seasons, with the favorite-underdog going 2-2. In the most recent meeting in Pittsburgh on March 13, the Penguins came away with a 5-3 win as short 'dogs (+115) as the Over (5.5) cashed in that meeting, and each game last season. However, the Under has a 3-2 edge in the past five in the series. Pittsburgh is 7-2 in the past nine meetings since Dec. 4, 2019, too, with the favorite going 7-2 in the span.

Pittsburgh has won the past five at home against St. Louis, too, with the Blues last winning in the Steel City back on March 16, 2019, by a 5-1 margin as the total pushed. Matt Murray was the starting backstop for the Pens then, so, yeah, it's been a minute.

The Blues suffered a 6-4 loss in Detroit on Saturday night, and they're 0-2-1 in the past three games, while allowing 13 goals in the past two outings. The Blues built a 4-0 lead, too, with Jordan Kyrou striking on the power play, and Jake Neighbours posting an even-strength goal in the first period, before Pavel Buchnevich opened the second period with a PPG, and Neighbours scored another even-strength goal to make it 4-0. However, the Red Wings rallied for six unanswered goals in the final 32:08 of the game.

St. Louis has had some occasional issues on defense and in the crease, allowing six or more goals in three of the past five contests. They're 1-3-1 in that five-game span, too, while the Over is 5-2 in the past seven games since Oct. 11.

The Penguins suffered a 5-4 loss in a shootout Saturday, halting a four-game win streak. Ryan Shea and Anthony Mantha scored first-period goals, and it was 2-2 tied into the final period. After falling behind 4-2 in the third, Kris Letang scored a power-play goal, and Bryan Rust netted the goal that forced OT and then the shootout.

In the past six games, Pittsburgh has averaged 4.0 goals per game (GPG), while allowing eight goals in the past two contests. The Over is on a 5-1-2 run in the past eight outings since Oct. 9, too.

Jordan Binnington (2-3-1, 3.12 GAA, .872 save percentage) is projected to start in the crease for the Blues, while Tristan Jarry (3-1-0, 2.51 GAA, .921 save percentage, 1 SO) is expected to serve as the tendy for the Pens.

We'll back the Penguins on the moneyline, and we'll go high on the total based on the trends for both sides.

As far as player props, let's play a few. First off, for Anytime Goal Scorer props, Sidney Crosby (+170) has managed five goals, nine points and a plus-5 rating in the past six games. If you're a little more adventurous, Anthony Mantha (+360) has three goals and five points in the past four games, and he is a great value if you like to roll the dice a little more.

Also, it's been hit or miss for Jimmy Snuggerud, who has four or more shots on goal in three of the past six games, and one or no shots in the other three. On the road, he has 10 SOG in the past two games, and he has at least two SOG in each of his three away games. We're simply going for two SOG (-130) for Snuggerud here.

Boston Bruins at Ottawa Senators

The Bruins (4-6-0) and Senators (4-4-1) meet at Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Senators LW Brady Tkachuk (thumb) is out for the home team, while Bruins D Hampus Lindholm (undisclosed) is out for the visitors.

The Senators have won four of the past five meetings, including a 3-1-0 mark in four regular-season games in 2024-25. The Under is 7-3 in the past 10 in the series since Dec. 27, 2022.

Jeremy Swayman (3-3-0, 2.85 GAA, .910 save percentage) is expected to be in between the pipes for the visitors, while Linus Ullmark (4-3-1, 3.11 GAA, .870 save percentage) is projected as the starter to face his former team.

Ullmark is 2-2-1 with a 2.77 GAA and .891 SV% in 5 starts at home, nearly a full goal better than his 3.69 GAA in three road outings.

After opening 3-0-0, the Bruins have dropped six of the past seven games, although they did surprise the Colorado Avalanche in Boston on Saturday, 3-2, as a +175 underdog. Still, we'll side with the Sens here. We'll pass on the total, as the trends are rather conflicting.
