FPL Gameweek 6 Wildcard Differentials: Best Low-Owned Picks

Gameweek 6 is shaping up to be one of the most popular times to play the Wildcard chip in Fantasy Premier League. With Erling Haaland looking essential (check his injury status), underperformers like Ollie Watkins and Florian Wirtz frustrating managers, and new signings like Xavi Simons entering the mix, many FPL teams need a reset.

While the core template is starting to emerge, the key to a successful Wildcard often lies in picking the right differentials. In this article, we highlight some of the best overlooked options for GW6, from budget enablers to premium stars like Phil Foden, who can give your Wildcard squad an edge.

Xavi Simons : Spurs' Creative Wildcard Option

Spurs' new signing made his first start against West Ham in Gameweek 4 where he impressed and picked up an assist. He started last Tuesday in Champions League and was then benched in Gameweek 5 against Brighton, so it's understandable that people might be put off picking him in their Wildcard teams.

However, I'd be shocked if he wasn't a regular starter in Thomas Frank's team. He totaled 148 minutes across two matches in five days despite barely training with the team over the international break. I think he's safe for minutes going forward.

The upcoming fixtures are nice for Spurs, with Wolves at home up next, then Leeds, Aston Villa, and Everton to follow. For that reason, I'd be tempted to go with the Dutch international on Wildcard.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin : Leeds' Budget Forward Pick

Calvert-Lewin has started the last two Premier League games for Leeds, scoring a goal in the recent one against Wolves. The former England international appears to be Daniel Farke's first choice to lead the line, so his minutes shouldn't be an issue.

Leeds also have some nice fixtures ahead with Burnley and West Ham in their next four.

The problem with DCL like always is his injury history, as he hasn't managed to string an entire season together in quite a few years.

By no means am I saying that he should be starting for you every week, but if you still need to use your Bench Boost chip, then he's a nice, cheap forward to have and play when you need to at £5.5m.

Djordje Petrovic : Budget Goalkeeper Alternative

Almost every Wildcard team that I have seen for Gameweek 6 has either David Raya or Gianluigi Donnarumma as the main goalkeeper pick.

Whilst both of these are great options, especially Raya, as the Arsenal defence looks like it's clearly the best in the league, I still think it's worth considering a more budget option.

It was expected that Bournemouth would struggle defensively at the start of the season after losing key pieces of their defence in Milos Kerkez, Dean Huijsen, Illia Zabarnyi and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

However, they've kept three clean sheets from five games in the league and have looked relatively solid at the back. I think Petrovic is a more than viable option and saves you funds that you can spend in other areas.

Phil Foden : Premium Wildcard Differential in City's Midfield

Foden is clearly back in Pep Guardiola's good books as he's started each of Man City's last four games against Man United, Napoli, Arsenal, and even Huddersfield Town on Wednesday in the EFL Cup.

He played 90 minutes in the first two, picking up a goal and an assist, and his performances have been brilliant.

The English midfielder came off early in the game against Arsenal, but I don't think it's anything to worry about. City were up a goal and playing with a lead where they were conceding most of the possession.

City face Burnley, Brentford, Everton and Aston Villa up next, so Foden might be worth a punt on Wildcard.

Nordi Mukiele : Sunderland's Budget Defensive Gem

Since coming back from injury, Sunderland's new centre-back signing has started all three Premier League games. In those matches, they've only conceded two goals, and Mukiele has hit the defensive contribution threshold in all of them.

He also has a unique long throw-in technique, which Sunderland have utilised well this season.

Whilst they don't get to play West Ham every week, who are by far the worst team at defending set pieces, they do play Nottingham Forest in Gameweek 6, who have also struggled from dead-ball situations.

Therefore, at just £4.0m, he's a great budget option to rotate on and off your bench throughout the season.
