Jesus Areso
26-Year-Old
Athletic
La Liga
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Areso makes the move to Athletic where he'll fight with Andoni Gorosabel for a starting role at right-back. While he stays in Basque country where he can feast on pintxos, he'll likely see a decrease in minutes after totaling 64 starts the last two seasons at Osasuna. When in the XI, he figures to post similar numbers to his Osasuna days where he created about one chance per game along with more than five crosses per start. Throw in the elite defense of Athletic and clean sheets are another boost. If he can win a job out of the gates over Gorosabel, he'll be an intriguing defensive option in drafts.

Joins Athletic
iAreso has completed a transfer to Atheltic from Osasuna, according to his new club.
ANALYSIS
Areso will not play with Osasuna this season after completing a transfer, remaining in Spain on a deal until 2031 with Athletic. He is coming off a solid campaign, starting in 35 of his 36 appearances while adding three assists, finishing his second straight season as their starter at right-back. He will look to beat out the likes of Andoni Gorosabel for the starting spot at right-back, but that is still up in the air, although he is still a solid two-way defender who should provide solid time on the pitch.

Could head to Athletic Club
Athletic Club are keen on signing Areso, according to MARCA.
ANALYSIS
Osasuna are willing to open negotiations for the right-back, but they're not going to let him walk away on the cheap. They will only let the right-back leave if his €12 million release clause is met. Athletic Club rate him highly since they see him as the ideal long-term replacement for Oscar de Marcos, who's not getting any younger, on the right side of the defense.
