Injury Hamstring
Est. Return 5/24/2026
Receives surgery
Mundle has received surgery on his hamstring and will be out for close to the next three months, according to manager Regis Le Bris, per Jason Jones of the Sunderland Echo. "For Romaine, we know it will probably be long, but it's important to recover properly. It's not an easy period. We are supporting him. He's very young and had more or less the same injury last season and beginning of this one. It's another injury on the other hamstring. Probably the same timeline he had before. Probably around eight weeks, six to 10 depending on his recovery."
ANALYSIS
Mundle is hitting the sidelines with another hamstring injury after the same fate this summer, although this time having his other hamstring operated on. This will leave the midfielder out for close to three months, as he will be lucky to play again this season, leaving it as a close call. The club loses some depth while he recovers, only starting in two of his 14 appearances this campaign.

Out for a while
Mundle (hamstring) will be sidelined for a while pending further tests to determine the severity of the injury, coach Regis Le Bris said in the press conference. "Romaine might have a difficult injury and he might be side-lined for a while - we still have further assessments to make, but we will have a clear picture soon. He has experienced this injury before, so it means something to him. It's too early to know if it's the same, but the feeling wasn't positive."

Helped out pitch
Mundle (undisclosed) could have suffered an issue late during Sunday's 3-1 loss against Fulham since he was spotted being helped to walk off the pitch, coach Regis Le Bris commented to the media, according to Phil Smith from the Sunderland Echo. "It's a bit early to say, so we had Nordi, Jocelin, Brian, maybe Romaine as well, so it was a tough day."

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could head to Scotland
Rangers have made an inquiry to sign Mundle in the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports.
ANALYSIS
Mundle hasn't logged consistent minutes with Sunderland this season, so it wouldn't be surprising if he chooses to sign with another club before the end of the January transfer window. The fact that he hasn't been used consistently, even with a depleted roster due to AFCON commitments, shows he's not really rated by the coaching staff. Rangers are looking to pounce on that opportunity to bolster their attack ahead of the second half of the Scottish Premier League season.
