Buchanan completed an odd journey, making a loan, and then permanent move to Inter and now returning to Spain with Villarreal. The wide midfielder has struggled to adapt since making the move to Europe, but he showed some flashes towards the end of last season, tallying three goal contributions in 413 minutes. Rumors have circled that he should be in for a larger role in the 2025/26 campaign, which should give him the chance to build on that efficient return to Spain. It's unlikely he continues anywhere near that efficiency, but with more minutes he could push for a handful of goals and assists during his fourth season in Europe. His main competition on the right flank will come from Nicolas Pepe, who should also get minutes as a striker, giving Buchanan more chances to start.
