CFL DFS Picks and Cheat Sheet for Week 15 on DraftKings
Week 15 consists of a couple of doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday, beginning with a Blue Bombers-Tiger-Cats clash and wrapping up with an Alouettes-Roughriders showdown on Saturday night.
As customary, we'll break down multiple options for each roster spot and also offer a trio of core plays to consider making the centerpiece of your lineups.
Quarterback Plays for CFL Week 15
Nick Arbuckle, TOR vs. EDM ($11,400): Arbuckle leads all Week 15 quarterbacks with 25.1 DK points per game, an outstanding figure that underscores how much he's thrived in what was supposed to be an interim starting assignment. The veteran signal-caller hasn't scored less than 22 DK points since Week 7, an outstanding stretch of play where he's offered fantasy players an extremely safe floor while throwing for at least 316 yards in six consecutive games.
Nathan Rourke, B.C. vs. OTT ($11,200): Rourke is right up there with Arbuckle in both salary and upside, as the mobile signal-caller has averaged 24.4 DK points per game and has thrown for between 326 and 408 passing yards in three of the last four contests. Rourke has a 19:9 TD:INT on the season as well, and his 345 rushing yards and pair of scores on the ground have rounded out his production nicely.
Cody Fajardo, EDM at TOR ($8,800): Fajardo is an eye-catching value option in Week 15 despite a recent downturn in production, as his matchup and game environment is ideal The veteran signal-caller has only scored 13.6 and 12.6 DK points in the last two games, but he'd scored over 20 DK points in three of the previous five contests. He also threw for 273 yards in his one prior encounter with the Argonauts, which unfolded in Week 11.
ALSO CONSIDER: Trevor Harris, SSK vs. MTL ($9,000)
Running Back Plays for CFL Week 15
Justin Rankin, EDM at TOR ($10,100): As we'll cover in our Cheat Sheet at the end of this article, Rankin makes for an intriguing stacking partner with his quarterback Fajardo, given the speedy running back's typically robust pass-catching role. Ironically, Rankin was shut out as a receiver in Week 14 for only the second time this season, but he racked up a career-high 204 rushing yards that partly consisted of 90- and 31-yard touchdown runs. The performance led to a whopping 35.4 DK points, pushing his season average to 18.3
Brady Oliveira, WPG at HAM ($9,700): Oliveira sported a five-figure salary in each of the last four games, so he's available for rostering at a discount in Week 15. That's partly due to a slight production decline the last two games, when he's recorded a still solid 15.4 and 12.2 DK points. Oliveira also has a pair of massive spike weeks this season (28.8 and 39 DK points), and with Zach Collaros (head) sidelined this week, Oliveira should be in line for an even bigger role than usual.
ALSO CONSIDER: Greg Bell, EDM vs. WPG ($8,400); Spencer Brown, TOR vs. EDM ($6,500)
Wide Receiver/Slotback Plays for CFL Week 15
Justin McInnis, B.C. vs. OTT ($9,300): McInnis was the most prolific of the Lions' deep group of pass catchers in Week 14, flashing against this same Redblacks defense for a season-high 30.8 DK points on the strength of a 7-148-1 line. While he's seen a big $1.3K increase in salary as a result, it's worth noting McInnis partly earned that by also posting 26.9 and 16.6 KD points in two other games over his last four contests.
Jake Herslow, TOR vs. EDM ($8,600): Herslow has shot up the hierarchy of the Argonauts' passing attack over the last few games, and he checks into Week 15 with four touchdown grabs in his last two games alone. Herslow is up to a season average of 16.2 DK points per contest after posting tallies of 36.9 and 29.3 in that last pair of contests. Herslow is now teed up for another potential breakout, considering the weaknesses of the Argos pass defense and the likelihood of a high-scoring game.
Kalil Pimpleton, OTT at B.C. ($8,700): Pimpleton has yet to have a truly spectacular game as a receiver, but his ability to consistently complement his production with his work as a returner has helped afford him one of the safer week-to-week floors of any receiver of late. Pimpleton just delivered 22.4 DK points against these same Lions in Week 14 via 212 all-purpose yards, and he also boasts tallies 17.0 and 26.2 DK points within his last four games.
Joe Robustelli, SSK vs. MTL ($5,400): The combination of Robustelli's 6-foot-3, 220-pound frame and speed always makes him a viable tournament value play, and this week is no different. The Tusculum College product has a solid 33-469-2 line through 10 games on a solid average of 5.2 targets per contest, and he now has three double-digit DK point tallies on the season after contributing 10.2 DK points in Week 14 against the Blue Bombers.
ALSO CONSIDER: Nic Demski, WPG at HAM ($9,500); Makai Polk, TOR vs. EDM ($7,400)
Team Defense Plays for Week 15
Saskatchewan Roughriders ($4,400) vs. Montreal Alouettes:
The Lions came through for us (9.0 DK points) as a value defense last week, but we're going to the other end of the salary spectrum this week for the Roughriders. Saskatchewan's defense already checks in averaging a league-high 10.3 DK points per game, and they're at an even better 10.8 in their home games.
Saskatchewan has gotten there with an extremely well-rounded defensive profile that consists of 34 sacks, 18 interceptions, five fumble recoveries and two defensive TDs. Both the interception and sack numbers are league-high figures as well, and the Riders have also allowed a league-low 20 big plays from scrimmage (rushes of 20+ yards, completions of 30+ yards).
Meanwhile, James Morgan projects as the starter for Monteral once again, and the one-time New York Jet has seen his passing yardage total drop over that of the previous game in each of the last two contests (three starts total). Morgan has also thrown four interceptions in that span, and Montreal is averaging a league-low 5.8 yards per play and 311.4 yards of net offense per game.
CFL DFS Cheat Sheet for Week 15
Cody Fajardo, QB
Justin Rankin, RB
Kalil Pimpleton, WR
Total salary expenditure: $27.6K
This week's trio consists of a QB-RB Elks stack and also features one of the safer-floor receiver options in the league. As mentioned earlier, Fajardo has a nice salary reduction this week, while Rankin's upside is above question, especially after last week's showing. Meanwhile, Pimpleton's additional role as a returner typically helps round out his fantasy production nicely, and he already demonstrated his ability to thrive in this matchup in Week 14.
