Famous Idaho Potato Bowl: Washington State vs. Utah State Best Bets
Between rounds of the playoffs, and before Christmas, we get ourselves a couple more bowl games. For example, Monday in Boise, Idaho we get Washington State up against Utah State. These are a couple 6-6 teams, and soon-to-be Pac-12 rivals. That, by the way, is something Wazzu desperately needs, as once again the world of college football was so impressed with a coach keeping the program afloat and thus hired him. Jimmy Rogers is off to Iowa State after one season in Pullman. That's the future, though. Let's focus on the present of Monday's Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl: Washington State vs. Utah State Odds
Spread: Washington State +1.5 (DraftKings Sportsbook), Utah State +1.5 (FanDuel Sportsbook)
Total: Over 49 (Bet365 Sportsbook), Under 49.5 (DraftKings)
Moneyline: Washington State -105 (DraftKings), Utah State -105 (Bet365)
Nothing says toss-up like being able to get points for both teams. Also, since the Over/Under total is steady across the board, I'll say I'd take the Over. This bowl season, embracing chaos has proven the better option on that front.

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl: Washington State vs. Utah State Betting Picks
Do you think "good losses" matter? Then Wazzu is for you! The Cougars lost by three points to Ole Miss, two points to Virginia, and four points to James Madison, all on the road. They also beat a good San Diego State team. Utah State doesn't have that kind of cache, and to that end Washington State ranks 61st in SP+ and Utah State ranks 78th. However, the Cougars are going through it again, including leading running back Kirby Vorhees to the portal.
Thus far, the teams going through coaching changes are not doing well, all things considered. Yes, I am turning to vibes-based decision making, but do you have strong feelings on the play of the Cougars and Aggies? Does Utah State ranking 115th in special teams mean more than Washington State dealing with turmoil once again? If I can get points either way, I will go with the team that isn't dealing with its second coaching change in as many seasons.

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl: Washington State vs. Utah State Betting Predictions
As much as I am considered mood and "vibes" here, because this is a bowl game in Boise, and Washington State is the most-unstable program in the country at present, there were 12 football games played by both teams this season to consider. The Cougars' defense ranks 30th in SP+, but the Aggies' offense ranks 52nd. Meanwhile, Utah State's defense ranks 92nd, so my Over on 49.5 feels good. Zevi Eckhaus, Washington State's quarterback, is a dual threat, but he also threw nine picks in 10 starts. With Vorhees in the portal, he's the only juice this offense has. Utah State also has a dual-threat quarterback in Bryson Barnes, but Barnes totaled seven turnovers in 12 starts, which includes fumbles. Also, he has his lead back Miles Davis, who tallied 11 total touchdowns.
Owing to Utah State's defense being subpar, I think Washington State can score some points, but I don't think Utah State is going to need to pull this one out late. The Cougs have too much turmoil to be locked in, unless they are different than the teams in a similar situation to come before them.
Utah State 34, Washington State 24
Famous Idaho Potato Bowl Player Props for Monday, December 22
Zevi Eckhaus, QB, Washington State – Over 33.5 rushing yards (FanDuel Sportsbook)
Eckhaus has been more of a "punch it into the end zone" kind of guy, but he beat this number three times in 10 starts, and he was close two more times. Wazzu has nobody else to turn to, and Utah State allowed 175.1 rushing yards per game this season. I imagine Eckhaus will be busy on the ground Monday.
Miles Davis, RB, Utah State – Over 43.5 rushing yards (FanDuel Sportsbook)
This is a number that bets on the Cougars' defense showing up locked in. Davis beat this number seven times, and one time he was closed and that was on 10 carries. In fact, I'd say only twice was Davis not at least in shouting distance of this number. Once was against Vanderbilt, and the other time he scored two touchdowns on 11 carries.
