2025 Fantasy Outlook
Trautman probably has more real-life value to the Broncos than he does fantasy value, especially after Denver added Evan Engram in the offseason. A favorite of coach Sean Payton from their days together in New Orleans, Trautman’s a reliable blocker who was on the field for more than half of Denver’s offensive snaps last season, and the 28-year-old TE’s 188 receiving yards were enough to lead all Broncos tight ends in 2024. Trautman should still see the field a fair amount due to his blocking ability, but he hasn’t had more than 263 yards or three TDs in a season, so Trautman’s upside is limited even if Engram struggles to stay healthy again after having a torn labrum surgically repaired in December. One catch in win
Trautman reeled in his lone target for five yards in Sunday's 20-12 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Trautman led all Broncos tight ends in snaps, playing 44 of Denver's 76 offensive snaps in the contest. The veteran saw extended playing time when fellow tight end Evan Engram injured his calf in the third quarter and did not return. If Engram is forced to miss time going forward, Trautman would likely continue to see the majority of snaps at the position based on his blocking prowess and the trust that head coach Sean Payton has in him. Third-year tight end Lucas Krull would also see more snaps if Engram misses time, and he would likely be the preferred pass-catching option. With that said, Trautman remains extremely difficult to trust for fantasy purposes heading into a Week 2 matchup against the Colts.

Trautman followed head coach Sean Payton from New Orleans to Denver, and after starting 12 games with the Saints in 2022, the 6-foot-5 tight end made 12 starts for the Broncos in 2023. Most of Trautman’s value comes from his blocking ability, as his three touchdowns last season marked a career high and the highest yardage total of his four-year career is a modest 263 from 2021. Oft-injured 2022 third-round draft pick Greg Dulcich has a far higher ceiling than Trautman as a pass catcher, and unheralded third-stringer Lukas Krull flashed some promise down the stretch in 2023, but Trautman’s probably the favorite to lead all of Denver’s tight ends in snaps once again. His track record suggests that playing time won’t lead to meaningful production, though.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Set for role reduction Thursday
Trautman, who's operated as the Broncos' de facto No. 1 tight end over the last four-plus games while Greg Dulcich was sidelined by a hamstring injury, is slated to move back into a secondary role with the latter's expected return for Thursday night's game against the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports Dulcich is slated to be activated from injured reserve ahead of Thursday night's game after practicing both Tuesday and Wednesday without any setbacks. Trautman, a third-round pick of the Saints in 2020 while current Broncos head coach Sean Payton was still serving in that role in New Orleans, was largely unable to capitalize on the opportunity created by Dulcich's absence, going without a catch in Weeks 2-4 before recording four receptions for 26 yards and a touchdown in a Week 5 loss to the Jets.
