Signing one-year deal with Falcons
Hooper agreed on a one-year, $3.25 million contract with the Falcons on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Hooper's is in line to become official Wednesday, when the new league year begins. The journeyman tight end spent his first four NFL seasons with the Falcons, who drafted him in the third round in 2016. Hooper has played for five NFL teams, most recently recording 21 catches for 263 yards and two touchdowns in 16 regular-season games with the Patriots in 2025. If the Falcons retain pending free agent Kyle Pitts as expected, Hooper would slot in as his top backup.

Hooper has posted at least 435 receiving yards in six of the last eight seasons, including his 476-yard campaign with the Patriots in 2024. After playing for five teams in a six-year stretch, Hooper will have some stability in 2025, returning to New England on a second consecutive one-year deal. Hunter Henry should continue to work as the top TE for the Patriots when healthy, but Henry has played in every game only twice in his nine-year career, and the 30-year-old Hooper’s a reliable backup who has proven capable of stepping up when called upon to play a larger role. New England’s 159 passes directed at TEs last season were fifth-most in the NFL, but second-year QB Drake Maye may look to push the ball downfield more to a beefed-up WR room headlined by free-agent signing Stefon Diggs.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
TE1 for Week 17
With rookie tight end Michael Mayer set to miss his second straight game with a toe injury, Hooper is set to be the number one tight end for Sunday's contest against the Colts.
ANALYSIS
In the Raiders' Week 16 win over the Chiefs, Hooper was second on the team with receptions, targets and receiving yards. That's not much to be said, however, as he finished with two catches on three targets for 13 yards in a game when starting quarterback Aidan O'Connell completed just nine of 21 passes for 62 yards. The Colts could be without starting cornerback Kenny Moore -- who popped up on the team's injury report Friday with a back issue -- which could open some space in the passing game for Hooper and the rest of the Raiders' pass catchers. The eight-year tight end out of Stanford has 18 catches for 167 yards and no touchdowns over 15 games this season.
