2025 Fantasy Outlook
Signing Singletary in 2024 was supposed to be a band-aid solution to the Giants' prior decision to let Saquon Barkley walk to Philadelphia, but Singletary was phased out of the Giants' 2024 offense almost as quickly as he was introduced to it – after logging 182 snaps in his first four games, Singletary missed two games with a groin injury and never reclaimed the starting role he seemed to have locked down in September. Singletary lost the job to Tyrone Tracy, then a rookie fifth-round pick out of Purdue who played his first season of running back in 2023. The Giants rolled with Tracy the rest of the way, even with Tracy fumbling five times, which gives you an idea of how bored they must have been with Singletary. Normally fumbling like Tracy did would get you sent to the bench, but as Singletary averaged just 3.9 yards per carry the Giants decided it was worth the fumble risk to roll with Tracy instead. It's possible that Singletary's roster spot is up for grabs now with 2025 fourth-round pick Cam Skattebo thrown into the mix, because Skattebo was one of the most productive running backs in college football the last two years. RANKS
Nets only nine yards in opener
Singletary rushed three times for nine yards in Sunday's Week 1 loss to Washington.
ANALYSIS
Singletary didn't get his first carry until the second quarter. He gained eight yards on his second rush attempt but combined for just one yard on his other two carries. Tyrone Tracy was New York's clear lead back with 50 offensive snaps Sunday, while Singletary got 10 and rookie Cam Skattebo logged eight. Both Tracy and Skattebo gathered two catches in the passing game while Singletary didn't even get targeted, so among the trio, Singletary emerged with the least encouraging performance. The Giants' ground game -- and offense as a whole -- struggled in Week 1, though, so it may take another contest or two to get a good handle on how the workload in the backfield will end up being divvied.

By now it is easy enough to see what Singletary is -- a high-motor runner who will never go down easy, but also one who lacks long-range speed and struggles to produce as a pass catcher. The question of Singletary's 2024 fantasy upside depends on how much the Giants value his solid but somewhat limited profile and whether they can field a competent offense. The lack of experienced alternatives or early draft picks in New York's backfield suggests Singletary has a chance to top his career highs of 216 carries (2023) and 52 targets (2022). Saquon Barkley saw 247 carries and 60 targets in 14 games last year, and Singletary might have a similar volume ceiling despite being an inferior player. It's fair to worry that a 5-foot-8, 203-pound back might wilt under such a heavy workload, though Singletary had no such problems in college at Florida Atlantic, taking 562 carries in his final 26 games (21.6 carries per game). He's also held up well in the NFL with smaller workloads, playing every possible game four straight seasons. Of course, the 2024 Giants offense will likely be significantly worse than the offenses Singletary played in with the Bills and Texans, so this probably won't be the most efficient season of his career.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Battling for RB2 role
Charlotte Carroll of The Athletic gives Singletary a slight edge over rookie fourth-rounder Cam Skattebo as the Giants' No. 2 running back behind Tyrone Tracy.
ANALYSIS
Singletary entered the 2024 regular season as the Giants' RB1 but gradually lost that role to Tracy, thanks in large part to a groin injury that caused the veteran running back to be sidelined for Weeks 5 and 6. The Giants bolstered their backfield by adding Skattebo in the 2025 NFL Draft, but Carroll tabs Singletary as the RB2 for now thanks to his experience and pass-blocking ability. Their performances in OTAs, training camp and the preseason should give head coach Brian Daboll a better sense of the backfield pecking order.
